So i baught this 120hz screen for a good price, it was from a p170hm3, display name is LP173WF2(TPB1)= matte 120hz, exactly the same serial sold for a p377sma.
The only differences is in the edp cable: it's wrotten on the edp:
"clevo p170hm3 lg 3d edp cable 6 43 p1701 010 jd hl 11 04 23"
but it is also a 50pin.
Does i think right that also the p377sma is a 50pin edp for 120hz?

Wait for @Prema to weigh in but eDP is eDP and that's the display I have... If you have the eDP connector, you should have no problem using that display. And I have P377SM-A myself.

Yes the 120hz panels used 50 pin eDP connectors.

I never quite feel like I know a system until I have stripped it down myself to the motherboard out of the housing.
-
I will open it completely no problem at all, and i will make a video tutorial if all is good
The sellor is in vacation so i have to wait a bit before he can ship it.Meaker@Sager likes this. -

Well it is not my day... i think i will never receive the panel. The guy from ebay ship it with collectplus but on their website it is wrotten as delivered to customer. But i never receive it :/ So idk what will happe next but i hope it's a mistake from collectplus.

Contact the courier and ask them to check, you might want to check with any neighbours.
-
i cant because collectplus is like a local shipping service. but i discover i receive 2 tracking number and the second one from ebay ( weird first time..) is working
so my package will arrive soon
Can't wait to install the screen and i will also do a painting tutorialTomJGX likes this. -

i received my screen finally but it was a bit of humidity on the panel due of transport. i don't think will be a problem, just hoping the edp cable will work
Will try installation this afternoon.
-
Installation complete, fully working
Tutorial coming soon.
But i got 2 issues:
-My cable was too long ( not same model laptop cable) so i had to fit it in a little space, the consequence is: i listen a little bit the cable while closing/opening the laptop but i don't mind.
-he sold it to me as a perfect no death pixels, but there are 2 little scratch...it's ok, the main problem is that there is a weird little point of dust or idk near the middle of the screen, i don't know how it came here and how to remove it if possible. -
Here you can see it, +- 22pixels

And you're sure it's not a surface area issue? (Otherwise you might have to break down the panel to check it out.)

yes, i just unmount the panel to see behind but nothing, it is clean, it's really behind this metalic or white paper in the back of the screen. i can't do anything. it is just a bit ennoying on desktop mode but gaming mode it is not noticeable hopefully.

Update, i think this one also deserve a tutorial because i wasn't the only one on youtube but none wrote a tutorial about.
I use my old 60Hz screen to explore what was inside the panel before exploring my 120Hz: i discover the plate mirror, a reflective paper and the screen pixels. The reflective panel has a dust! it was not possible to clean it with a simple cleaning cloth so i use isopropyl 70% ( alcohol for skin ) and it was easier to remove it( the dust touched also the mirror plate, so also a touch of isopropyl to clean it ) After that, i use GAS spray to remove any dust before closing everything. But one little dust succeed to enter on my screen but i don't mind about
Here the result:

Are you sure it was not the odd bit that got in while you opened it?
-
no if i look closely, its transparent but i dont feel to open again because i highly think i m lucky to have only this little dust.

Tutorial in first page, Hope it will help a bit.

@DARCODER hey thanks for this video I thought it was ALOT harder to install this than what it appears to be from you video but I did not see you install the EDP cable? is that not in the video? I would like to see where on the motherboard that goes.... but again thanks

@DARCODER
Could you show me a picture of the cable you used? I think I some how got the wrong cable, I think the one I have might be a 30 pin but I am not sure, I wanted to compare it to a picture of your cable you used, I am going to install this display this coming weekend I think if I have enough time, thanks man -
the white connection to motherboard is 15x2=30pin for edp. For lvds is 20x2=40pin.
I hoplessly dont have a picture of edp but i still got my lvds out. Send here a picture of your cable and i will let you know if it is the same. -
*working on uploading a pictur*
@DARCODER Okay here is a picture of the cable I have it is confusing because the label on the cable says lvds but I looked at the connector and I counted 30 pins so I am not sure anyway here is a pic of the cable I have and it is laying on the back on the display I have also with the model number ...is that the same display you installed?...how long did it take you to install it? are there any tips or tricks you could give me before I start to take the computer apart? anything confusing I may run into? ThanksDid you have to install any special bios or any other software for it to work correctly? thx
do you have a display calibration file? Thx sorry for all the stupid questions just want to make sure I do everything correctly and don't mess anything up
I really wish you would have shown every single step you took, it kind of skips around a few steps in the video but it is still very very helpful and more helpful than anything else out there (and there isn't any other walk thru available heh).

The tips i can give... would be like each scews you remove you put in a same plan to reproduce the laptop design( to not switch a screw with another one when you close everything back if you know what i mean..).
You can start to unmout display or motherboard as you feel depends if you need to test your monitor first.
Be relax with any move while you remove a part to be sure you didnt forget to disconnect a cable.
I need to paint my upper and down part of the laptop, if you can wait a day or two, i can upload a full video how i unmount it with a better view angle
Also, always ac and battery disconnect ( push many times the power button for draining power too ) and wear gloves ( antistatic would be helpfull at any case and while you replace the cable, it is easy but good to remember, make sure you dont touch any componants...
The cable looks exactly the same.. but mine is longer due it is from another laptop and it cant be for lvds because it is too short to connect it inside..so i sure also it is a mistake.
My friend make a color calibration with spyder3. i can share it. -
Okay I posted the picture ^^ above @DARCODER not sure why it says LVDS but I really hope I didn't get the wrong cable :/ if anyone else knows let me know plz thanks
*edit* opps I didn't see you follow up post...anyways what do you mean its too short to be lvds isn't the lvds and edp port on the motherboard right next to each other? -
As i said, im sure it is edp. i will show you how an lvds look when i come back home
-
Okay cool, yes that would be awesome if you made another vid with diff angles thanks, also yah share the spyder3 calibration file...thanks for all your help!
