Good afternoon all. I'm in need of some assistance for my Sager NP8658-S (P650RG) before I shoot off an email to tech support. Last night it refused to power on. Following are the sequence of events that occur when I try to power on the laptop. It occurs regardless of power source (AC or Battery)

    1. Power on LED indicator lights up but nothing is displayed on the screen. The screen remains blank throughout this cycle.
    2. After a few seconds, one of the fan (closest to the power button) turns on and stays on at high speed.
    3. Then 3 LED indicator lights in unison starts flashing at a fixed interval (caps lock, scroll lock, and number lock indicator LEDs).
    4. Approximately 30 seconds later, the laptop shuts down by itself.

A quick glance at the manual and a hasty search on Google indicate it may be a hardware issue resulting in shipping it back to the manufacturer. This is extremely upsetting as this is a brand new laptop with all of 5 days of ownership. Any insights?

Agreed, its gone... Probably dead motherboard... I would ask your reseller to send it back to Sager and try to get a replacement for you..

You could reseat all the cards and ram under the main cover, but it likely does need to go back.

Thank you all. I've decided to return it for a full refund while my return window is still open. Hoping my reseller's refund process doesn't add to this already distraught situation.

Sounds like perhaps a bad solder joint. It can happen on any system and won't show up super quickly.
