    Hello,

My P650SE is getting hot while suspended in the bag. Is it expected for this model?
    I'm using ubuntu 14.04

If you're not doing a full shut down it would likely get hot in the bag. I would recommend just shutting it down all the way before putting it in the bag.

It is also using 20% of the battery per hour.

4 hours on the P650SE should be about it's max.

    While the computer is suspended!?
Because I meant that it is using 20% per hour while suspended.

Is it possible for you to shut down instead of suspend it? Typically processes would still be running while it is suspended which would cause everything to be continually used.

I have encountered issues that while you set the computer to suspend when you close the lid, what actually happens is a process prevents that from happening and what you end up with is the laptop just turns the screen off and stays on and heating up your bag.

If you close the lid, stop and listen to the fans. They should spin down to no activity at all. If they don't, then you have something keeping your laptop from going into suspend.

See if that happens with a fresh boot also.

It is suspended. The fans are off and the lights are indicating that it is off.
But still, it is using more battery than it should and heating.
My other computer can easily handle more than a week suspended.

I would check on some of the power settings that you might have. As mentioned, there are settings that will allow various parts of the computer or events, to wake the computer up. And if it is in your bag, then it will sit there running even if the lid is closed.

I know you can have settings to allow your mouse to wake your computer. So, if I don't turn my mouse off before I put it in my backpack, it can turn my computer on while traveling. Then when I open my bag later the computer has been on for some amount of time and running hot, as all of that heat is trapped in the backpack. There can be various timers that can wake your computer up, and again, if it is on in the bag, even idle, it will drain battery and trap heat in the bag. Check your advanced power settings and see it there is anything enabled that allows the computer to wake up, as those can do that while the lid is closed still.

I have left it standing in front of me suspended for a few minutes and it is actually heating more than when it is on.
It was suspended all the time

I would still recommend checking the power settings to see what your computer is supposed to do when the lid is closed, and if anything is waking the computer up.

It not awake, as I've said before, I was watching it sleeping and heating. The LEDs says that it is sleeping.

I think it is related to the video card or the processor. The heating is near them

Well if the fans don't spin up and something is left on then it will cause the heatsinks to get hot as there is no active cooling so even with lower heat output than normal it will creep up. You could perhaps update your BIOS or EC and make sure all your clevo application drivers are up to date.

Just checked it now and it seems to happen on ubuntu only. For the few tries I did, it does not heat up on windows.
I'm now sure it is related to the discrete GPU also, the heat is definitely coming from this area. Since P650se has an LED for that, I see that even if the dGPU is turned off by nvidia-prime, it does turns on seconds before suspending and then the leds goes off when suspended. When the computer wakes it does turn on the dGPU led again and only turns off after login.
