    Hi there!
    Today I was trying out Witcher 2 and the P650SE turned off never to come back again. Anyone have any ideas? Wanted to run this by you before bothering the guys at Eurocom.

    Additional info:
    - notebook was plugged in;
    - notebook was on a flat surface and didn't feel hot at all;
    - power and battery LEDs are on while plugged in and turn off for a few seconds if power button is pressed;
    - no sudden movement, vibration or anything "external" happened to apparently justify this behavior.

    Thanks in advance for your input!

    Is it overheating possibly? Did you let it cool down a bit and see if it comes on again? Did you try checking to see if everything in the computer is properly seated in there (like ram for example)? If you hook it up to an external display, do you get a picture at all on the other screen? Might try with a few things like that. It would still be worth reaching out to Eurocom to see if they have suggestions as well.

    Thanks for your answer, Pat!

    I did try again after it "cooled off" (although it wasn't hot to begin with). Tried with an external monitor, too.
    I'm not an expert at all but the issue seems more "electrical" to put it in a way. If I hold the power button, the power LED on it doesn't come on and the power LED on the front -where all the other indicators are- faintly blinks (while I'm pressing on the button only).

    i would try a EC reset.
    remove mains and battery. then press and hold power button for 20 seconds.
    then plug in mains cable without batter connected and try and boot up. does the psu brick have a light on it.
    if nothing. do above again but this time try with battery instead of mains.

    Yeah, clearing the EC like that would be worth trying as well.

    Thank you for the input, guys!

    Did the following:
    - disconnected main power and battery
    - pressed power button for 20 seconds
    - connected main power (power adapter LED on; notebook power LED indicator on)
    - pressed power button
    - disconnected main power
    - pressed power button for 20 seconds
    - connected battery
    - pressed power button.

    Did I follow the steps correctly? Notebook does not turn on (power LED indicator faintly blinks when power button is pressed).

    Thanks again!

    Yeah, that sounds about right. Normally you just want to hold down the power button for a bit while it doesn't have any battery or AC adapter power to clear the EC.

    Probably a failed motherboard. If you have more than one memory module, you can pull all but one and test; if no power up still, try a different module in a different bank. If still no boot, then it's probably high time for an RMA.

    ^ram was going to be my next option.
    not sure what your model is like under the hood but normally 2 ram bays are visible but the other 2 could be under the keyboard.

    Thank you, everyone!

    Tested the notebook without the upgraded RAM and no luck.

    I've opened a support ticket with Eurocom and imagine this will result in an RMA (which I hoped to avoid, being overseas). Luckily, it's still under warranty for almost an additional month.

    Anyone wishing to check the support process can do so here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/eurocom-support.791547/

    Once again, thanks to all who showed support.

    Cheers!

    sorry we couldnt save on the rma but at least its still in warranty as could work out expensive if one of the main bits of hardware have failed.

    Don't worry. It seems RMA was the only way to go and still you've been most helpful. I really do appreciate it!

    Parts don't always fail in a dramatic fashion, my Titan-X just turned off and never showed any signs of life again for instance.

    only thing wrong with it now is the cmos battery is dead so i have to reset date every day i turn it on but thats it.

    The batteries are not that expensive, why not put a new one in?

    Ah but going in every boot and resetting the time takes time, so you have to make a value decision on if that is worth it to you I suppose :p

    What is "not that expensive" means to you? $100? :D

    That'd get you several millennia's worth of cmos batteries :vbbiggrin: ! A CR2032 is $0.15/piece for the cheapest variety, $2.00/piece for a Panasonic or $3.90 for a Panasonic with soldered-on tabs and the standard 2-pin cable.
