Haven't seen anything on this topic but is it safe to assume that the price difference between the P650SE vs SG will roughly be 300 USD? Is it only the GPU that is being changed or will there be other changes as well (speculation is fine)?

    Thank you in advance.

The laptop is kinda thicker, like 3mm or so. so the heatsinks will hopefully be bogger and thicker.

the backplate will definitely be a different one, providing more inside volume and, naturally, an overall thicker chassis. if the larger volume also includes pimped up cooling components is not yet known...

Better pimp the cooling components or I'm going to kick some taiwanese a"ses

more seriously, the cooling of the 980M will be beefier that's for sure, the 970M and the 980M share the same physical characteristics (maybe one vram chipset, but same height as other vram chipsets), for the CPU they're not going to let a small 3mm interstice under the heatsink, that would be stupid...

I read on PREMA post on Techinferno that the P650SG would support 49x0HQ so maybe that means better cooling no ?

its all speculation at this point :) it could very well be that theyll just leave it at the thicker backplate, since propping up the back of a machine can already have a huge effect on airflow and thus cooling capabilities. they might just implement that by the different backplate. i guess well have to wait for the first SG review to find out!

I think the upgrade will only cost about $275 from a 970M to 980M. If so, screw the SSD! 980M here I come!

Well you can add in an SSD later if you like. I would do it as soon as you can since an SSD does make a huge difference.

I think you would see more of a real world performance boost from going to SSD from HDD then you would 980M from 970M. But since SSD are cheaper and easier to upgrade yourself you can put that in later.

Well with this machine it's not really a case of cost but possibility. If you intend to keep the machine for a long time the 980m makes a lot of sense.
