Hey Folks,
I have a Eurocom M5 pro (p650SG version, 980m).
I have noticed that even when the 980m is totally inactive, it's fan is still spinning audibly. Not 100% mind you. This is the fan on the right side that vents out the back (pretty sure that was the GPU though it was awhile since I took the back off).
I was wondering if anyone had seen this issue before, or if it is normal behaviour. I just reinstalled Windows 10 again, and I can't honestly remember if the GPU fan was always going before - but my gut feeling is that it when the nvidia was not being used its fan was also off.
Windows 10 pro, 64 bit. Have the all the drivers from Eurocom installed.
Edit:
GPU-Z shows the GPU off, but every few seconds something utilizes it. Is there a way I can tell what is doing this? (image attached)
Thank in advance!

Might be a stupid question, however have you checked task manager to see if any background apps are active? Also is it the same even with GPUz not in use?
Have you tried forcing max fan speed for a moment and then disabling it?csand likes this. -

A monitoring program will ping the gpu and wake it to get the hardware information

Ah well that makes sense. It seems after replacing the latest nvidia driver with my previous one (from November)... issue has gone away and the fan spins down properly. Though like Meaker says I guess the spikes are just GPUz "checking it out"
Thanks for the help guys. -
