    Hello all!

I recently received my Clevo P650SG from Prostar but the computer doesn't boot. It has no OS since I planned to install the copy that my school gives. After I press the power button, the computer just displays a blank screen. There is no 'stylenote' or 'clevo' or 'sager' logo. Pressing F2 to get to the BIOS does nothing. I removed the RAM and HDD and replaced them with another RAM stick and an SSD but it did't change anything. I also tried disconnecting the battery and unplugging the mains and then holding the power button for 2 mins. This did not work either. I am bummed out and do not want to return or RMA the laptop as I need it ASAP for schoolwork. I suspect that the motherboard is faulty and that I have to return/RMA it :(

Do you get any lights when you press the power button? It should glow blue and the front panel should have green lights. The power button does take a slightly longer press to actually power on, not just a quick push.

If you're not getting any lights, then yeah, your power supply or motherboard is shot. If you do get lights, make sure you have your bootable media in and press F2. (or leave it alone, you should get a "can't find bootable media" error, which would at least indicate it's working.

I just returned my P650SG to Prostar because I didn't get the screen I ordered (twice). It booted up and worked fine though.

Yes, my indicator lights are working and pressing the FN hotkeys - NUm lock, Scroll lock, turning the screen off and on, etc - works. I have a bootable USB, so I tried starting the laptop with it plugged in. It still shows a blank screen. I tried this multiple times using various methods: once without touching anything, another time mashing the F2 button, and a last time by holding down the F2 key. Interestingly there would occasionally be a buzzing sound when I hold down the F2 key. This seems to happen when I change USB ports and hold down F2 during boot.

Look for a service manual online and remove the CMOS battery for about 5 minutes then replace it (make sure power and battery are unplugged when doing this) then try booting into the BIOS again. Should work.

Okay, so I took a look at the diagram and saw that this laptop had a traditional laptop battery glued on with an RTC connector. I unplugged the battery, took out the mains, held the power button to drain excess power, and then unplugged the RTC battery connector. I let it sit for a good 10 minutes and reconnected everything in reverse order. Unfortunately I still get the same blank screen. I am lost and think the MOBO is simply faulty.

Agreed.. RMA it... Demand a like for like replacement as you shouldn't be having your laptop repaired the minute you get it...

Do you have a monitor you can hook it up to? It definitely needs RMA'd, but I'm wondering if it's possibly the display or GPU that's bad. If you get signal on an external display, that would be something.

Yes, if you cannot get into BIOS then it's obviously faulty no matter how you slice it. Good luck sir/madam, and I am extremely sorry that you got a bad machine that did not pass RMA T-T.

Oh my god. You just pointed me to the culprit! I was looking in all the wrong places!!! I took apart the display and reconnected the connector and voila! It works. It was simply a loose display connection. Thanks all for being so helpful! You all deserve medals haha.

Excellent news, glad it was a quick fix. Didn't think it would be as simple as a loose connector, but I suspected it was GPU/Display after you said you got power.

I'd still followup with the retailer to let them know so they can at least note it. But, you don't have to ship it back!

Right haha, fixed! I forgot at the start of the P65XSX thread members were debating whether or not there was an M.2 version of the AC7260.

There is an M.2 AC 7260. The P65xSx just doesn't have one as a pre-installed option.

Next time, just boot into the BIOS. Fans generally spin much louder there, and that's when you know it is a display issue.
