    Hello

After some time having this laptop I`ve started playing more games. Few times it restarted during playing Witcher 3 so I decided to verify temperatures etc.
    CPU is i7-7700HQ

So during the gameplay I have 80-99 degC... (many times when temps are above 90)
What is even more weird that this temperature is hit immediately when the game starts....
I did tests with XTU stress test and it was in 70 at max (max with 74)
I did undervolt it a little (- 60mV) and this reduced the temperature while playing Witcher3 to 80-85 - will try to run tests and reduce further.

What I don`t understand is why CPU temps are lower when CPU in 100% use (stress test in XTU) vs temperatures in Witcher 3 (lower % use but higher temps)
Can somebody explain this to me? :)

Other thing is that fans are acting weird - does anyone could help me if in this laptop it is possible to do some changes in it? Like installing other software or something else?

I'd venture to guess it's because the CPU and GPU are reaching maximum utilization simultaneously when executing demanding games (such as The Witcher 3), whereas with Intel XTU only the CPU is reaching maximum utilization. If I recall correctly, the heat-pipe cooling solution is a singular connected unit shared between the CPU and GPU, and there is likely just too much heat being generated to disperse it efficiently.

Sound logical and make sense. Will try to run more tests in this case.

Does anyone know how to improve work of fans in this laptop? (different software or other fix?)

Have you got the back of the machine raised slightly?

It helps the fans draw a little more air in.

What did you mean by "the fans are acting weird"?

Probably because he has the Clevo Control Center without disabling the built in XTU from being installed which is known to cause the fans to spin up even when the temps are low and even at idle, just happends randomly. That's my guess for "fans acting weird"

    To fix this:

    1) Uninstall your current CCC then reboot

    2) Perform an NVRAM Reset:

To perform a soft NVRAM Reset without having to open the laptop and remove the CMOS battery:

Hold FN + D + Power button for 5 seconds, then keep the FN + D buttons pressed and release the Power key, after 30 seconds, you should see the NVRAM reset message on your screen.

    Another user also mentioned:

    3) Set your BIOS options to back to what they were

    4) Rreinstall the latest Control Center AP (AKA Hotkey Driver) with the version meant for your laptop

To install the Clevo Control Center without the built-in CPU/Memory Overclocking tool (which contains XTU components):

Edit the OEM.INI file in the Clevo Control Center driver's directory before you install it:

    Change SupportXTUFanTable=1 to SupportXTUFanTable=0

The p670hs gets 90+ cpu and gpu temps within minutes of playing witcher 3, battlefield 1, or overwatch - which is every game I play besides HOTS. I don't understand how other owners don't notice this.

    Greetings,

My Clevo is form PcSpecialist same model same issue, what did I do?

Undervolted the maximum my cpu can take without crashing in my case is -130 and I also disabled Intel Turbot Boost Technology. My CPU now hits 2.78 Mhz.

    STOCK THERMAL PASTE

Re-paste with a high quality thermal compound is the next step.

Not only it can handle that but also it can handle 100% CPU and GPU usage for days without ever throttling...
The problem you state is not a problem of the model per se, it´s a problem of poor thermal compound and a poor production inspection/testing.

Exactly what is going on. For good heat dissipation they should have used separate pipes for the CPU and GPU.

You need the replace the thermal compound for a good one and probably check if the heatsink is really flat. Those temps are not wright at all.

Well I spent about a month tinkering with undervolting and other settings. Then finally returned it to Eluktronics where they kept it for a month. When I finally got it back, the temps were worse. They told me they even repasted it with better thermal paste - can't remember what. I had to demand a refund to get my money back. I would play bf1 and in 15min my palm would be hot.

That's really strange, maybe the heatsink was not good or something like that.
