Is there any different, compatible, keyboard design for these machines? I find that the plastic scissor switches seem to be remarkably prone to failure after a year or two. I'm on my third replacement keyboard right now as the scissors fail and it's been challenging to the point of absurdity to replace defective scissors without snapping one of the nubs off each time. Sometimes, the cap comes detached, other times it's the chassis side that comes loose under the key.
I wondered whether there was an alternative (e.g. chiclet) option that would work in the chassis, that might have improved reliability.

Not that I am aware of, I believe the keyboard design has been constant.
