    Hi guys,

I was going to delid the CPU today but damaged the motherboard in the process ( The pins in the socket are bent). So I just ordered a replacement from Eurocom. I'm wondering: Is it hard to replace it? Is there anything I should know? I mean stuff like wiring if there is any. Can I just dismatle the components and install the new motherboard?

And are the boards from the P775DM3 model and the P775DM3-G identical?

How many and how bad are the bent pins? They can be straightened with a magnifying glass using extremely sharp nose tweezers. Basically, so long as they aren't broken you still have hope.

As for changing motherboard its usually a compete disassembly. Try and find the service manual, that'll help you get most of the way, and the schematic part will show you how its put together and where the screws are.

All the SMs used to be easily found in a thread on techinferno but in Prema's Purge he cleaned out the contents of that post and hopefully you can find it somewhere else

Schematics will probably also tell you if there are multiple part numbers for variants of the motherboard, or only the one.

Can you tell us the price for the replacement motherboard? And shipping cost?

    Hi

Sorry to hear about the damage, I guess you purchased your XMG before we offered delidded CPUs?

Did you contact us to ask about options? We could have either repaired the board for you or if necessary installed a replacement! €530 for a replacement mainboard for P775 is ridiculously expensive, if you don't already have the board from Eurocom please get in touch with our tech support team at info @ mysn.de or send me a pm and I will forward it to my colleagues for you :)

Replacing the mainboard yourself is not an easy task at all, also if we repair or replace the board for you the warranty on the chassis will still be valid.

Professional facilities can actually replace the socket alone for a lot less if the damage to the pins is extreme.

Quick update - @thejungho and I have discussed the damage over pm and I have confirmed pricing of €367 inc 19% tax which is why I mentioned this in my first post in the thread as it's obviously substantially lower than what @thejungho was quoted by the other source.

We'll see if it's possible to repair rather than replace, but will likely need the laptop back with our engineers to see the damage first hand and make an asessment :)

If we do have it back here, we would give you a shipping label so you can return it with an RMA number. We would need to test the laptop with the components that you purchased from us, including the CPU and GPU, memory etc. It would be best for you to discuss this with tech support directly, if you want to get the return set up ASAP I will have them contact you via the details we have on file for you.
