Hi everyone is a few weeks ago that my p775dm3-g with i7 7700k is no longer working at maximum speed. Frequency does not reach 4.5ghz but at 4.2ghz, what can it be? Other users with the same cpu model have this problem. Some windows update went badly?
-
Are you using Throttlestop with Speed Shift enabled?
-
What is throttlestop? I just installed the control center version 1.0.25, but even when i uninstalled the control center, the CPU cracking is limited to 4.190mhz. To be precise as soon as Windows starts, the cpu runs at 4.5ghz after any minute max 4.2ghz..and what to other my friends with the same platform
-
Where did you buy it from? Have you tried high performance windows power plan?

I have set the power plan on high performance with minimum usage of 5% and maximum of 100% ...
-
You forgot the other questions.

I bought it on raiontech

It does sound like something funny has gone on with the drivers in some update to hit a few people. I'm not aware which it is however.
-
If you boot with 1 core (as in deactivate the other cores) at 45 ratio, does it still cap at 4.2?
-
If it involves multiple systems in the same way you have to think that it's definitely some windows upgrade.
No I did not try, but can I disable them from control centers or bios? -
Honestly not sure with that laptop, would throttlestop allow for such an action? It's a windows application

You can designate how many cores to use through msconfig >> boot >> advanced options, but not much else.Frank_84 likes this. -
Check the BIOS settings. Be sure that overclocking is enabled, confirm that Power Limit 1 and Power Limit 2 are both set to a minimum of 91000 (or just manually set both to like 160000), and be sure the Core Max OC Ratio is not set to 0 (this should be at least the same ratio as your core multiplier or any higher value - zero disables overclocking). Core Max OC Ratio is only a limiter or threshold, so it can just be set to the maximum allowed by the BIOS (83) and left there. This advice assumes that your BIOS has these settings available.

Nothing to do ... always the same problem, over 4190 mhz does not go

Have you tried uninstalling the control centre and then installing the one that John supplies in his utility
http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/clevo-drivers-update-utility-by-obsidian-pc.801464/
This one installs the control centre but without the CPU overclocking. I know in the past that the CPU overclocking built into the Control centre messed up the CPU throttling
I'm on the latest build of Windows 10 and I don't have Throttle stop installed and my system happily encodes at 4.4Ghz without throttling.
Also you say you are using Control Centre 1.0.25. The latest is 1.1.27. Those early ones always had issue -
Do you refer to obsidian tool? Do not subscribe? However, I've already tried uninstalling the control center without any effect.
-
You don't need to subscribe to use it, just use the free license to get the basic installs.
If I remember correctly mine didn't work properly without the control centre installed. The CPU would always throttle, and then throttle even worse If I installed the control centre with CPU overclocking
What BIOS version are you on? -
I only see paid versions:

I have version 1.06.04Last edited: Aug 8, 2017 -

the free license is linked to on that page -
I have installed the obsidian tools I've updated everything, even the control center to version 1.1.27 but I have not fixed it, there is always the same problem
-
Not sure what could be causing it then. I'm on the latest Windows 10 and not seeing the problem on any of my machines
-
This might sound stupid, but did you check that the correct multipliers are set in BIOS?
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
True, if it's exposed check the maximum ratio setting. -
Unfortunately the multipliers are set correctly by bios at 45-44-44-44x ... today even through Intel xtu as soon as I turned my computer I brought the frequency to 4.6ghz and it worked for a few minutes then it again worked at 4.2ghz
-
Probably overheating. Post a screenshot of the exact throttle reasons in HWinfo64.

Guys i think i have solved .. after checking all the processes and programs i installed i found what disable the turbo .. it was real temp, in the setting it had ticked the disable turbo voice .. it seems to work fine thanks to everyone for your help !

Glad you fixed it. Why are you using realtemp though? That program is ancient. Use Throttlestop 8.48. You can do a lot of useful stuff with it.
-
I used it because it is light and not invasive, however I will follow your advice!
