    Hi,

My setup is P870 DM3 6700k, Dual 1080 graphics cards, 64 gb Ram.

I've just obtained an Asus Rog Swift PG279Q 27" monitor which runs 2560x1440 resolution at upto 165 Hz via a mini Display Port to Display Port connection. My question is can I actually run three of these monitors together and run in 7680x1440 resolution ?
I'm quite new to this so please forgive my ignorance. My concern is obviously that the laptop only has 2x mini Display Port. Can I use one of the thunderbolt/USB 3.1-c ports with an adaptor to convert to Display Port to connect the third monitor ? Would this still allow the 165 hz (which is only for the display's DP connection - it is limited to 60hz via its hdmi connector) and contribute to the combined resolution iam trying to achieve ?
Also will my machine have enough graphical power to run such a resolution with sli 1080's ?

Thanks in advance for any or all help. I'm close to purchasing 2 more of these monitors but would just like some sort of guidance from the more knowledgable members.

    Kind Regards

    Chris (UK)

Hi cwiggy, someone did some testing with adapters. You can get 3 monitors yes but you loose G-sync as you have to use an adaptor to split the displayport signal. You get 2 channels which you can EITHER use for displayports OR route them to the thunderbolt ports so they can chain displays.

The HDMI port is 2.0 so that can be used for a high refresh rate/resolution connection too but again no G-sync through this.

For gaming I would recommend a single ultra wide high refresh rate panel flanked by a couple of standard ones for productivity.

    Hi,

Thanks for the answer. I read the other guys testing of it a few posts above after i'd posted and feel a bit gutted that it can't be done. Another idea i'm thinking about is swapping out my 1080p 75hz display for the 1440p 120 hz TN panel and then flanking that with 2 of the Asus rog 27" external monitors.

Does that sound viable ? I don't know how that will come across gaming wise as its a massive mismatch on size and even as i type i think it wouldn't b too great. They'd all be g-synced though huh ?

What do you think or is it not practicle.?

As a side note i often game just using my laptop panel at weekends due to moving between place of work during week and home at weekends so feel i'd benefit from upgrading laptop screen.
