Anyone have good experience with a notebook cooler for the P870?
I'm considering the
Coolermaster XL (one big fan, high airflow 90 CFM), but have read mentions about the
Coolermaster U3 Plus (3 movable fans, lower airflow 15 CFM).
Quite a difference of the CFM spec!

My own custom one yes, you'll struggle to get an improvement with a normal one.

Most on here will likely recommend the U3 Plus, as it's has a good base to modify and improve upon.
You can switch out the fans with more aggressive ones and move them around for optimal performance.
Many other notebook coolers end up abstracting airflow, where you either end up with worse or no temperature improvements. -

What do you guys mean by the bottle/gatorade caps? Just something to lift the computer up a little more away from the table/surface? -

Exactly, just raise the back feet to reduce air resistance on the fans.

Or Jenga blocks haha. But yeah, I've honestly had way better results with bottle caps as opposed to cooling pads which in some cases have actually made temps worse.

A book placed towards the back edge of the laptop also works wonders, as long as you don't actually block any of the intakes.

Anything that props it up, wont vibrate and opens up the space below the machine. A closed plate like some stands will just keep air resistance similar. Try putting your hand over your mouth as you breathe in then slowly pull it back. Even a bit further away makes the task easier

Yeah, funny thing is.. with custom coolers you can make it worse if there is too much airflow haha

Depends on the airflow and turbulence which does get complex to really dig into. If your machine has an odd airflow pattern is going to make more of a difference. The p870 needs a fair amount of pressure applied to help.

I noticed the biggest difference when I had my P670. It ended up with worse temps. Ended up dremeling the intakes at the bottom and raising the back with two black square blocks and just taking that around with me. Even when the rear wasnt raised, the additional intake space at the bottom helped a lot
