    Hello Notebookers,

I have a P870DM system with Premabios. How do I enable drive encryption via the BIOS? I am able to set up a BIOS password so when I turn on the laptop I need to enter the password, but does this also encrypt the drive?

A little bit of research revealed that it's called an ATA password.

    Thanks,
    Will

Set up the HDD password in the security section first (not BIOS password). That allows you to then enable drive encryption via (Samsung) software in Windows afterwards.

Hi @Prema , everything in HDD Security is faded out - I can't change the settings in HDD Security :(

Then the drive doesn't support the password.

Hmmm weird. Some of these SSDs were taken from my desktop where they were encrypted with the ATA password. Maybe the encryption feature for these SSDs is unsupported by P870DM premabios? Guess I'll use bitlocker. Thanks @Prema

Did you remove old passwords/ encryption on the old system before using them in the Clevo?

    Hi Prema,

I have the same as aznxwill. It's kinda strange that the ATA security shows information even if the disks are not in the laptop. Do you have any procedure how to enable the passwords?
Is there a way to change/configure the ATA master password as well? The ATA security passwords are not Hard disk related as far as I know and all HDDs should support it, I didn't find one without this feature yet.

    Thx

Maybe a stupid question but you might know the answer.
Why the settings are duplicated on the ATA security pages? What does it mean having them like this?
Once we have 'Security Supported: Yes' then 'Security Supported: No' and it follows 'Security Enabled: Yes', 'Security Enabled: No'

Thank you very much! I just bought a P775DM1-G from dreammachines.pl with your powerful BIOS and I'm dying to have this problem solved as soon possible.

Yet another question if I'm still here.
Your current BIOS does support NVMe security features/password or it's completely out of question?
Do you plan to implement such feature in your future releases?

    Thx again
