Anyone know how to fix this issue? When I am playing any FPS when I press and hold down the W key my character's movement stops and goes and just stops. I have to reclick the W key to get it to work again.
I've noticed holding down my W key it will keep making W's and then just stop sometimes. This happens sometimes only, not always, but it really screws up my movement when playing FPS's. It's really annoying, but basically it's showing that when I hold down my W key it doesn't keep pushing, it just suddenly stops even though I am still holding the W key down.
I never had this issue happen before, and it happened recently, really want to fix it and hope it's not an expensive fix to replace a whole keyboard or something.
Any suggestions or tips how to fix this issue?

Do you have sticky keys on? That seems like a issue related to sticky keys or filter keys

Aghh, it looks like sometimes when I press my "W" key it doesn't respond. I kind of have to press hard on it for to respond sometimes. If I just type it regularly like other keys it does not respond, it requires a harder press.
Any suggestions for this fix? I am tempted to pry the key off and clean it but I am afraid I may break the keyboard key. -
See if it is doing proper contact with the motherboard. Disconnect it and reconnect its tape. You can grab the service manual here on how to disassemble it:

Agh, I'm actually afraid to take it fully apart, I feel like I might screw something up and break something when detaching it. Do you thing prying off the W key is worth a shot?
-
The disassemblance of the machine is easy to do and all you need is to take off the keyboard, clean the tape and put it back. If you aren't confortable just take it to the store and ask them to do it for you and see if the keyboard isn't faulty

The dm3 keyboard is pretty easy with the two screws and then a hole next to the CPU cooler to push the keyboard up.

I guess I will give it a shot. I will have to unscrew a lot of other stuff before I can get to the keyboard probably right?

The bottom cover, that's it. Then as above the two screws and poking through the hole.
-
Isn't there more to taking off the bottom cover, like the heat sink, and taking off the motherboard before I get to the keyboard?
It's actually been driving me crazy, I think I need to do it. Only thing is I'm afraid I'll ruin something taking it apart. -

Nope, the keyboard is held down by two screws and magnets. It pops up with the heatsinks and motherboard in place.
-
Which 2 screws am I looking to take apart to get to the laptop?
Meaker, thanks for always getting back to help me out. I've honestly seen you help me out with a lot of issues over the past few years actually. Really appreciate your input and help, I have been able to fix a lot of stuff with your aid. -
Open the service manual and you'll be able to find the directions on how to disassemble the whole machine. Post #4

My memory was failing me, it's one screw marked k/b.

Yeah, so I took the keyboard out and cleaned the ribbons and the ports where they plugged in and the W key is still not working well.
I have also pried the W key off and cleaned that area with an air duster. I guess I'll try buying a new laptop keyboard, any reliable websites you guys would recommend where I could buy from? -
Any reseller that sells Clevo. See one near you

It should be a fairly easy part for them to source.
-
What did you mean by reseller exactly? Are their legitimate websites I can trust for these parts? Sorry I not sure I actually bought this laptop used off of another person.
I did find some on eBay from China....they have really good feedback and it's running for about $45 per keyboard. -

Of course there are. You got a couple there and here too:

All of them are reliable for buying parts

I'm seeing a lot of the websites from the first link dont show keyboards for sale individually it's all mostly actual whole laptops. Am I supposed to call and ask for the keyboard alone?
Also is there any American websites you would recommend that have the keyboard listed? Just trying to keep it domestic for same currency paying reasons. -
Because they only sell a complete laptop!? Maybe? Ask them for a price in private. Is it that hard? You don't see any store or any kind selling laptop parts.

There are a lot of parts, listing them all would take a lot of effort. Just shoot some places an email
