    Hi Guys,

Does anybody know where I can get hold of a water block that fits the P870KM1?

Thinking of maybe an upgrade to a 9900K, but i have the vapour chamber from the DM3 , and i don't fancy doing lots of chopping and changing around.

Wouldn't have an issue with an external loop.

There's one thats been floating about ('scuse the pun) on taobao for at least a year, not sure if they're able to be used CPU only but it's definitely a separate piece to their milled dual GPU waterblock requiring a bridge section (so their full setup is 3 pieces all up).

The problem with using any other block only on the CPU is the spacing on the mounting holes, and that the dual GPU vapor chamber heatsink (even the KM and TM versions without the extra heatpipes across the CPU radiator) overlap creates serious clearance issues as well as blocking access to two of the screws that go into those holes.

Thanks for getting back to me, I was wondering about the overlap and if this can be resolved somehow, modification to the vapour chamber? i found on a separate thread what looks to be a really decent WC block for the KM-1 but not sure if I could modify the existing GPU block to allow this to fit ?

My KM1 has a DM3 vapour chamber on.

You could modify the back plate and fit the TM series cooler on the CPU and use the KM series heatsink on the GPUs.

Is there anyway i could use the existing DM3 vapour chamber and the TM series CPU cooler together?

I don't have a KM1 vapour chamber, the previous owner swapped it for a DM3 for whatever reason :)

A friend on here has kindly offered to sell me his KM1 vapour chamber cheap, so i will go for it.

Out of interest, is the DM3 vapour chamber actually better than the KM1 ? or was this a backwards step by the previous owner

It was more biased towards the GPU cooling than CPU for sure. Your overall is similar.

Thanks for the link ,does anybody know of anybody that has purchased one ? and what was the outcome? although it looks good the temps don't exactly look "water cooled" for the processor speed etc.

It's limited considering the vapor chamber it's up against and the flow restriction of the water.

There was a guy. He was posting in dsanke bios thread.

As far as I remember this heatsync is amazing. Cooling without water loop is a bit better than regular stock one. When you turn on water - it's even better.

If I remember correctly, guy reached 5ghz on i9 with temps below 90c.

Sounds really good, would be interesting to see if I can dig this out?
I noticed the seller offers a full custom water cooling unit as well for around 100 dollars with really good reviews.. so im really tempted to buy this setup + a 9900k for the KM1, and make a proper thread on here and see where it leads.

Check if actually is only 100, loads of sellers on aliexpress and taobao tweak so search results are bait'n'switch, they show pics and title of the highest priced option and it shows up in the search results with the lowest priced option

I'd see how the Waterblock leak tests then how it handles a lesser cpu before buying a 9900K. It's a *lot* of copper but the heat pipes look like they've got sfa surface area contact since they're not flattened.... And also, there looks like there is no sealing either and precious few mounts (only one in that centre section?), I would leak test it for days before even installing it

Plus, the longer you wait the chances go up that you'll snag a new stepping 9900K (if you can't check exact box part numbers first to be sure)

I can't find the exact thread, but a guy was claiming this kit knocked well of 15+ degrees vs the TM cooler with a 9 series i9 fitted, not sure if the processor was on LM or even delidded.

I'm sure its pre-sealed etc, and yes I would do thorough testing. I am not new to custom WC builds with desktops, so would do the proper due diligence before dropping it into anything !

I have found a few members who have actually bought this setup and praise it highly, i find it really strange there are no proper write ups on the forum for it though, as a modder myself i think it would be really good fun to share things like this with the community

yep sorry i'm not so active these days.
This was a 30mn gameplay with delid 9700k 4.7Ghz 115w -90mv, game is running average 46-55 (jumping crazy no stability) with: watercooling (no fan cooling the water) and laptop fan cooling activated.

For the CPU + GPU heatsinks ( they are apparently welded together - see below ) + external water cooled unit £250... not sure what to make of the price ? thoughts?

    1. Silver-containing high temperature welding, resistant to 300 ℃ high temperature. 2, eight-temperature zone reflow welding to ensure welding accuracy. 3. The welding surface is wide enough to ensure the welding strength. 4. The welding surface has no contact with water and no corrosion worry. 5. High pressure test, six atmospheres, no leakage

I'm actually going to be buying this water-block (CPU/GPU) for P870DM2, I think the price is actually very justifiable. Low production run of an extremely niche product for extreme enthusiasts. Considering it's similarly priced to the vapor chamber, I'd say this is actually a pretty good deal. Of course that varies from person to person, but considering to have this CNC'd out in a one off item would probably cost multiple times what they are offering.

I'm glad we are on the same page with this, there hasn't been anything I can find about any other users buying the full gpu and cpu block and then the water cooler which is priced quite fair.

    It's 1500 for the block + 800 yuan for the cooler = total £256.

The performance seems good, apparently this will cool the 9900k to maximum 70 degrees.

I'm really interested to see how your mileage goes on that platform. I'm still trying to figure out what my max CPU upgrade is (7700K right now, but with mods I'm thinking 8700K+), I'm either going RTX 2080 or another GTX 1080 for SLI, which again, isn't nailed down. All I know is that I'd like to eliminate the thermal limitations to maximize performance. 5Ghz+ 7700K + GTX 1080's in SLI (or 2080), 64GB RAM (I'd like to see if 128GB works with the new 32GB SODIMM's, but I've not seen anyone attempt that yet), so yes it sounds pretty nice. I have 4x 480MM radiators and will be likely getting a water chiller, so this block will be pretty central to my build.

I'm curious how exactly the block is held together though, for example if it's just sealed with an O-ring I'll have to do some calculations as to what PSI I can put through it with such a small diameter tubing without risking leaks. If it's welded together I'd probably be able to put a full dual D5 pump or whatever.

I can put my 7700k to 5.0-5.2 on air and test temps out and then water cooled so you can see the difference, I intended in doing this before I changed over to the 9900k anyway :)

I wouldn't go over the top with a radiator as you will still have your 3 fans cooling the heatsink too.

The only thing I'm not completely convinced on is the external water cooler only has one fan, I was thinking 360mm radiator really to cool 2 x 1080s and a 9900k. Do you know the diameter of the pipe, could you get a reducer down.

I notice an 8C delta tops on extended ~400W GPU workloads, that's with a copper tube soldered to the vapour chamber heatsink with the laptop fans on 20-30%, pulling heat off to a 360x45mm rad (in silent mode D5 on speed 2/5 and 6 120mm fans on low speed in push/pull - maxing the pump and furious vardars up to 3000rpm improves by another 3C or so)

What's your thoughts guys , @Mr. Fox i know you have done quite a few loops.

Do you also think that water cooler unit is not enough to cool a 9900k + 2 GPU's properly even with the laptop fans cooling the fins of the HS (ideally you would want the laptop in a quite mode of operation)?

I am thinking i will sway more towards this as its an AIO from Alphacool and its cheap

I think i am going to buy my own WC unit and they generally have 1/4 threads, but this tubing looks very small compared to usual WC tubing i see

The 8086k is a nice balance on cores, clocks and temps on the air cooled platform.

Okay thanks bro, my only concern is the threads on that custom hestsink. Normally 1/4 is the standard size for a thread obviously the wc heatsink had a much much smaller opening, do you think there will be an adapter to covert backup to G - 1/4

I suspect you can find an adapter. Thread sizes are standardized. I would be shocked if the heat sink uses a proprietary size that cannot be replicated. Or, along the lines of what Brother @Meaker@Sager suggested, you can use a stepped barb fitting if you need to change the ID of hoses.

Surely the seller should be able to help you with the fitting spec or provide a pair. Aliexpress has all kinds of threaded barbs, as low as a dollar or two each. Brass would definitely be available, maybe even stainless

    E.G.
Stainless Steel Male BSP 1/8" 1/2" 1/4" 3/4" Thread Pipe Fitting Barb Hose Tail Connector 6mm to 25mm Tools Accessory
    https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/c2aTv7Ks

Hopefully it's a standard thread such as 1/8" and one with an o-ring would be preferable of course

I've found clamp (screw or non screw) and double cable tie on barb for soft tube are both more than good enough sealing. A rotary fitting would help too so unscrewing/screwing doesn't twist the tube.

We are on the same page!

Already dropped them a message, thanks for the heads up though :)
I am debating the EKWB AIO vs the Alphacool - both are 280MM radiators, one is £120 vs £170. I can't really see where the additional £50 would be worth the cost, other than the Alphacool looks cleaner aesthetically.

Why look at AIOs? My EK radiator was a nice quality.

The AIO is not going to be sealed though, so it will need loop maintenance.
