Hi, I am trying to get an MSI GTX 1070 Gsync working in the P870DM-G. But Display stays black.
Is it really necessary that I need a ModBios?

You need a certain vbios for it to boot (I have forgotten which one exactly). It needs to be flashed with a non gsync vbios.

But with a non Gsync VBios I will brick the card.

No you won't, if it is done the other way it will brick the card (flashing g-sync vbios on non g-sync card). Make sure to use a skypro.

So long as you save the original vbios there is little risk using a manual flasher.

Exactly, if you have a manual flasher there is literally no risk. You could even flash a completely different vbios and flash back to the original. The card will still function the same.

So you need to buy one or ask someone to flash it for you.

I have same configuration and I had to flash this vBIOS: https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/188124/188124
You also need to switch boot mode in BIOS to UEFI instead of Legacy.

Thanks. Or do you know what I have to buy that I can flash it by my own?

You need to buy a sky pro programmer along with the soic 8 pin clip and 3.3v converter pcb.

He has a gtx 1070. Unless he flashes an rtx 2080 ti vbios on it little would go wrong lol. But it is possible to mess up the card :D
