Hey im interested in my first desktop cpu laptop looking at these 2 coffee lke options.p870dm3 seems to have gotten better praises than 775 but I dont need graphic power. I will go with 1060 and 8700k dellided as all i need is cpu power. I rather have the lighter and less expensive option(775) if will perform/cool similarly to the p870. Which is the better buy for me?

If you want a light machine, why not consider the P751TM with i7 8700K and 1060?

I owned a P870DM3, and I was very close to buying the P775TM1 but ended up deciding to wait (went back to my roots with a M18xR2 instead) for next next gen Clevo in 2H18.

The only issue I had with P775TM1 was cooling but if you are buying from a partner like @Donald@HIDevolution you should be fine with temps as they delid the Cpus also the CPU cooling seems like it's better than last gen.

Id get p751 but i looking for 17.3 inch machine. For sure whatever i get will be delidded. And not overclocked. Also wish for system to run quiet as this is for music production.
Wish i knew how run in regards to cpu cooling and noise only. After lots digging hard time finding how dm3 versions compared as most are focused on systems geared with higher end gpus. Hopefully new cooling on tm is good improvement and if 775 runs cool and quiet delidded ill be happy.

    Thanks

If you don' care about overclocking get the i7-8700 non K model, it will run cooler and give you basically the same performance.
