    P950HR - Can I replace the 30pin EDP cable with a 40pin one

    As the thread title says, is this possible or is this dependent on the motherboard?

    plug n play? No.

    The panel is dictated by the cable type which is dictated by the motherboard which w/e the engineers chose.

    I believe he means replace the cable, the motherboards would be the same I think.

    If the motherboard has two video outputs and that second one is 40pin then sure (my laptop is like this) but most motherboards just have the 1 30pin connection since we aren't in the transition Era anymore

    I would of course change the screen too, but my concern is with the EDP socket on the mobo - so they are different on that end as well between 30/40 pin?

    The cable would be different, so if you can find a 40 pin cable for your model then it would fit and work.
