When browsing reddit I came across this comment

"I currently own the Eurocom Q6 variant, based on the Clevo P950ER.

A few notes before I start: The Eurocom system has an unlocked BIOS, allowing for out of the factory overclocking, undervolting, etc that may not be available from another retailer. And second disclosure, I have been able to undervolt by 100mV, and raised the TDP limit from 45W to 55W."

Is this unlocked bios available for people buying outside of eurocom(Gentechpc, Xoticpc, etc) ? And can we raise the gpu TDP so it performs like a proper 1070MQ ?

You can already do that with stock BIOS, TS, XTU or Clevo's own CCC. ;)

    Raise cpu TDP ? awsome

What about the GPU TDP, I would doubt if you can change that

The i7-8750H and i5-8300H are not overclockable, so changing the core ratios above the default maximums won't apply.

Interesting. Is the overclocking menu exposed for Clevo BGA systems with a locked (non -HK) CPU? Because on the LGA systems, when using a non -K CPU, the overclocking menu in BIOS/CCC is hidden. You have to use XTU to adjust turbo power/time limits, current limit, voltage, memory/XMP settings, etc.

The Q6 has an i7 8750h processor so an unlocked TDP isn't normal

It depends on BIOS support. For example, the MSI GT75 with 8750H and Clevo P7xxTM with 8400 or 8700 non-K allow you to raise power limits.

There were limits on what the BGAs could be raised to in previous generations, usually 10W to long and short power limits.

Is there a way/bios to raise the 1070MQ tdp to match that of the one in the aero 15x (90-100w) ?

You would need to reprogram the BIOS using a physical clip and programmer, being warry that some of these cards will not take well to the new TDP levels.

Isn't there a way to do it without a hardware programmer ? Maybe an old bios before the 1070MQ in the p950er was gimped ?

I don't want to overclock I want it to run at 90w just like the 1070MQ in the aero 15x. The card at 80w is neither efficient nor powerful.

Sorry I was thinking of the MXM card, yours will be integrated into the BIOS IIRC. However it is putting extra stress on the VRMs and cooling of course.

Heat and noise are the the least of my concern since I only want the card to perform like its supposed to(aka at 90w not 80w). Is there a way then to do it ?

Extracting the BIOS, finding the vbios and editing the values then repackaging it making sure it will still pass flashing validation.

As for the exact details for each step then it's not something I have delved into.

Just like maxwell mobile then, so it shouldn't be that hard . Awsome.

    BGA rocks !
