PC Microworks

Great news!

I just did a check on their location and... they are located literally down the street from me. I did this because when I put in my pre-order the shipping was a mere $27 haha, thus suspicion arouse at their "nearness" to me and low and behold... down the street is PC Microworks same zip code and all!

I am going to take a visit to their headquarters and see how things are! If anyone has any suggestions do tell!

For one I will try to see the differences between the glossy 1680 vs matte 1920 screen resolutions on the EDGE.

PS: 1 hour ago I didn't know what PCMW stood for haha!

 

See if you can get an overall impression of the "business" including atmosphere (e.g., sloppy, tight-ship, losing it, cool-as-cucumbers, etc); it'd be nice to get a boots-on-the-ground view of the degree to which the reality meets, exceeds, or belies the image created on the website.

or better yet, ask if you can see the m860tu chassis and tell us all the info you can gather.

hey bud, you've got an opportunity here to answer a lot of our questions.

1)Do what eleron said and scope out the place to see how it's run.
2)Be friendly with them - and ask if you can see the m860tu to take a pic of it.
3)See if you can organize some kind of group buy. Say "I have about 10 friends that want to purchase this laptop, can we get a discount if we all purchase it together?" (do this if you think they might be up for it)
4)Tell them about this forum! Let them know that a lot of discussion is going on abou their company and this laptop and see if they want to make an account to answer some of our questions.

I just noticed this....and realized how blessed I am to have that good old skybox of mine because from Fremont to Miami and then to Trinidad, West Indies, my shipping is going to be a grand total of $25

Now that is a testimonial of savings. (Btw, I suggest you just go and pick up the darn thing when its ready, lol)

 

Yeah, I'm still thinking of an approach that in a way that they'd gladly give me a tour of the facilities and let me do some hands on stuff on their "EDGE" laptop. I will try my best.

When you see them, you should emphasize to them, given that customer service is one of their big concerns - based on all the comments I've seen, when you get a hold of them they seem to really want to set things right (however they got un-right in the first place ) - that having an active presence on the forum is a very good way to catch customers with problems who are too distraught to think straight and come here to vent before (or instead of) calling in to get their problems fixed. I've noticed that both PNB and XoticPC have effectively managed such customers by picking up on the incipient complaint thread and asking the customer to pm them to fix the problem - that, as far as I can tell, is usually the end of the complaint thread, which ends before it can brew itself into a raging storm. They should think of it as a free, open-source alternative (or addition) to their rather expensive 800-toll number.

thought about it for a long time...I really have no need for instant gratification with this laptop if it is going to be half done. I'm upgrading to the 9800gtx so that I can have more time to let them iron out the bugs. plus, if another retailer sells it for less i'll jump ship no problem. Also, i'm downgrading the rez to 1050. I think a 900 matte would be perfect but 1200 is way too overkill.

 

with you there drth. Just emailed em to upgrade it to the 9800GTX. buys us time if they do infact somehow send out a laptop.

 

Get an email address of the Owner, King Kahuna, or Chief Wizard. We can start an email campaign to get them rep'n on the site. Jiminy, they must know a lot of business is influenced and comes their way via this site.

im not talking about the edge or watever... i mean PCMW in general.. me and wu got the blackhawks from them back last summer... And no, it doesnt matter...

 

okay then... nobody's going to give you rep for buying a blackhawk. maybe eleron cause he's weird. or actually maybe alot of people now just to prove I'm wrong.
