So im about to buy a Sager NP8662 and Im looking at getting an accidental warranty on it because I am heading to college. It looks like PC Torque is the only reseller that sells an accidental warranty with the laptop. I was wondering if anyone has dealt with this company and/or their accidental warranty coverage. If so could you let me know your experiences and whether you would buy from them again or not
Thanks,
Dan

I got my laptop thru them. So far, they're not bad either. The company is based in NYC I think.

Another good place for Accidental Coverage is Safeware. You can check them out here.

I purchased a Sager 9750 from PCTorque about 4 years ago. I purchased an extended warranty with the system. Apparently the extended warranty was from a 3rd party that went out of business. PCTorque would not honor the extened warranty themselves and refused to provide a refund.
You can argue that it was not PCTorque's fault, but it is very poor customer service. I will not buy from PCTorque again. -
I order from them, one time. They made a mistake on there RAM. To go from 4 gig to 6 gig, there were no extra cost. When i did my payment, they say Oh it will cost you 400 $ more. That not what I was quoted for. Even though they made a mistake, they wanted me to pay for there mistake. They gave me this crap about they can change the price any time. But I order it way before they change the price on there system.
Not worth it to buy with them. Just a hell of a problem.
STAY AWAY FROM THEM -
Alright thanks for the responses so far. I guess Ill expand my question then. Has anyone used safeware for accidental coverage? If so could you let me know about your experiences?

if you don't live in US, it won't work for you

really? pretty sure i read it it say only US
i guess i'm wrong
edit : I just call them, they say as long you have a US address. They can be anyone. -
Safeware does not have Sager (the people who actually assemble and build the notebooks) repair the notebooks. PC Torque's accidental warranty coverage has Sager actually repair the units. THAT'S THE DIFFERENCE YOU GET.

Same here. One of the first adopters of the 9750, man it was a kicka$$ machine at it's time and PCT was top dog reseller then. They actually ran another competing forum as well.
However, after that ADP went belly up, forget-about-it. Luckily all my fixes were done in the 1 yr warranty period including 2 mobo replacements.
Now, if I am looking for Sager, I'm looking at Xotic or Powernotebook - both have been fantastic posters here as well. -
no stay away from them

Your company not worth it.
Stay away from them -
nexuscom as i understand they made you pay $400 extra for 2 gb? That's insane, i'm completely against the false information in websites and the no responsability policy. DELL makes this mistake frequently, what they usually do is cancel the order and offer a discount in the same product.

PCTorque's lifetime rating on reseller's is 9/10 which is high.
I asked them several questions last month about the availability and various configuration options about the NP9280 and each was answered quick and accurately.
Just tempering the negative with a smidge of positive. -
I have to second that smidge of positiveI spoke with them just yesterday at length. The rep was very intelligent, and provided accurate information just the same as Electrosoft's experience.
The man was also honest with me about certain games that he was personally not aware of how they ran on specific configurations, so he wasn't trying to "sell" me something for the sake of selling. That wins bonus points with me. -
PC torque is a reputable vendor.
Just because they made a slight mistake in the past doesn't mean they should be avoided completely. These guys, including the Xoticpc and powernotebooks, don't make large profits as they do in Dell or any other large company. The prices of the computers are already at as cheap as they can be. Bang for the buck is what they're called, remember?
If you wanted a company to make a mistake and give you a large discount on your system, you've made a wrong choice in vendor. PC torque is along the line of powernotebooks and xoticpc in service and prices. -

^ That is encouraging but where was this post when this blew up? Those who purchased this heard nothing about it all, we were left on our own after paying up good money for a VAPOUR coverage.
The most we got from this kerfaffle was a 10% discount offer from Sager, that was all, which I applaud Sager for coming to help us Sager owners out of this mess.
Now, most of us are out of warranty now so this gesture is pretty meaningless, imo.
A little bit of positive support then, such as Sager did, meant more to me as your customer back then - than the post above: 3 years after the fact.
I wish PCT luck but I, personally, want nothing to do with PCT when it comes to Sager. -
-
Surprisingly enough my 9750 is still running strong. PCTorque did put together a reliable machine. -
The remedy will be evaluated on a case by case basis. Customers are free to contact us via email and we will discuss in detail. We will not leave you hanging, even if it was 3 years ago

I have to come to the defense of PC Torque here, they did a great for me with my recent Sager 8662 order. I'm a picky buyer and I had a bit of complex order. I like to ask a lot of questions, and Jason always responded to my queries quickly and simply. I would reccommend PC Torque to anyone considering a purchasing a Sager laptop.
Regarding daikyu's problem I would say this: Would Dell, HP, Sony, or Gateway even be talking to you at this stage in the game, three years after your purchase? I highly doubt they would. It wouldn't do any harm to at least see what he is offering. -

Still trying to figure out how this is PCTorque's fault that a contracted 3rd party for extended warranty service that went out of business is somehow their responsibility. That's like going back to all the companies that offered SquareTrade or similar 3rd party warranty options and demanding they shoulder the blame of a failed warranty service provider if they somehow failed to provide service or went out of business.
Ah well. -
