I was browsing trough my sensors with HWINFO64 and saw the PCH temperature sitting at 82'C.
I googled for information and read somewhere, that the PCH would max out at 108 or 111'C
Not sure where its positioned on my W370ET, but should I be worried?
No problems so far, just curious.

PCH is the Platform Controller Hub, the motherboard's chipset. HM55 in my MSI GX740 heats up to 80s. My laptop is a couple years old, I've never experienced any problems with it. IMHO You needn't worry.

Not sure if it is the same thing, but I have a sensor labeled 'THM0' that maxes out at around 82c when I am playing the most demanding games or anything like that. I wouldn't want to see any temps much higher than that, but I figure it isn't an issue.

*edit* oh never mind... I found the PCH temp. Mine hasn't gone over 58c all day

On the W110ER it sits on the front edge. It's covered by a huge aluminum heat sink that you can fry eggs on when gaming. This and the i7 make up quiet a heat load when gaming. I use a small cooler when gaming to help keep the top deck cooler during long sessions.

    Hello,

While there are always ways to rig the system for better cooling/performance, they often require some technical knowledge. A good way to keep your temperatures down is to equip the unit with a good cooling pad, if possible. Some of the plastic ones won't help with heat dissipation, though; rather, they'll just blow air onto (or away from) the laptop.

Consider looking into a cooler with a two fan setup (preferably) and that's NOT plastic - i.e., metal, mesh, etc.

    Best regards

BTDT _ absolutly worse cooling with the metal mesh 2 fan cooler. It's sitting on the floor, you want it? I'm back to a single fan cooler as the bottom of the W110 does not allow much air flow to be directed by multible fans. I get better results by pressurizing the whole bottom of the laptop. All can be verified with HW info running. On my other laptops, it's a different story.

The cooling on w370et is very nice, GPU never goes over 58'C for me. Mostly 55-57'C.
    CPU cools off enough too.

Only component that has high temps always (even at idle) is the PCH. Stays within 79-89'C (a bit high if you ask me!)

No idea where its located, perhaps some reseller might know? Or maybe some user who has opened it?
    Send me some pic please!

P.S> its 92'C while doing light gaming >_< Why is that thing so hot?? Its hotter than a overclocked CPU!!!
My videocard during light gaming is 41'C!!!!
And that PCH gizmo is going 91-92'C like a bratwurst in a frying pan....

Tragic. :( How big is the fan on the single fan cooler? In some situations, I've seen a metal baking rack with fold-out legs help to a small degree. :D But that was on your garden variety, low to mid end system.

It's cooled passively. Only methods of improving cooling efficiency are changing the heatsink on the thing, adding copper to the existing heatsink, drilling holes in the laptop's chassis (after locathing PCH first, of course), adding an extra fan inside the laptop's chassis.

My HM55 is at 75-76C at the moment (full CPU and GPU load with BOINC), with copper added to the existing heatsink, extra vent holes drilled in my laptop's chassis, and with ambient temperature at 30C.
