Well it looks like PCMW is advertising a "impulse 14.1" laptop that's capable of handling the oh so hot x9000. Is this even possible on a 14.1 or are they messing with us?

Anybody else heard about this laptop platform? Anybody know if the 8600gt card they are gonna stick in it is ddr3?

    Thanks!

Do you have a link? I doubt there's a 14" notebook out there that can actually use an x9000.

This one apparantly can, and its out. Whoever orders it, give us a review.

Now, I definitely know they received the 320GB 7200rpm hard drive. It's listed as a **NEW** component to add in this configuration.

What platform (Clevo model) is this based off of? Are there any similar laptops out there that we can compare this to? I'm obviously new to Clevo.

That 320 7200rpm HD is going to be hotter than the sun.

Perhaps, but I heard that these drives (320GB 7200rpm) are supposed to run cooler than usual.

This laptop is not a Clevo, I can't remember the brand offhand but it was discussed before. If you check a few pages back on the forums, you should see a forum about it, I believe it was titled 'A NEW CLEVO?'

Hmmm, I don't know but imo even if it's possible to use an x9000 in this laptop, I wouldn't do it. I honestly doubt that the cooling system can keep up with that processor when running intensive apps or gaming. It might also significantly shorten the lifespan of this notebook. There's a reason why not many laptops offer this processor as an option.

Lol, after you bash it like that.

Man, want to sell my Toshiba one time? lol.

Based on the review and the specs PCMW is putting in this thing, sounds like they are heavily modifying it. Anyone ordered it already?

The X9000 is not that hot as people might think, it actually runs cooler than my T7500.

My system runs at stock speeds, I only OCed to see how much it can do.
Not much , I can tell you that.
So stock T7500 runs MUCH HOTTER than X9000.

Well look at that. You learn something new everyday.

More powerful does not mean hotter. As we seem to understand with the 9800GTX :p

Well, you have to take into consideration that the X9000 is a 45nm CPU , whereas my T7500 is a 65 nm one, ancient stuff here :D

Yeah the 8600 would be a bottleneck. Unless you're into heavy video editing (high-def etc.) or CAD work, I suggest to stick with good mid-range processor like the t8300 or the t9300.

Mines idling as I type at 28c overclocked to 3.2 mhz. It runs very very cool for such a powerful cpu.
