I think a Clevo M860TU would be more appropriate. It's the base laptop name that makes it as an official thread usually.

I find shipping stuff down under has always been a pain in the arse. Have you considered alternatives, like shipping it to a skybox and hopefully the skybox can send it to you for a reduced price?
EG. I got a skybox in Miami, PCMW shipping to the Miami skybox is free, from there, skybox to me is $25 US. But its only a 3 hour flight from Miami so I dunno. But check this, shipping from PCMW to me would have been $200 US and I don't even pay duty so thats full on shipping costs. So, look at that difference.
Look around, I'm sure some clever Aussies have found a way to bring tech in and not burn your pocket with shipping. -

You might have to have 50 or 100 posts for that, but I`m not sure yet, it`s been so long since I had 2 digit # of posts...
Anyway, nice config, you should be very happy with it`s performance once you`ll receive it... I mean 15 inch, quad core, 9800M GTX, wow! -

This is the one I am with, although, it only facilitates the Caribbean as per the name. Maybe skybox isn't the right word, but its what I know it as. Its "an express package and mail service that allows you or your company to have a US mailing address located in Miami". I guess the closest thing I could think of is a monitored and secured P.O. Box. -

Any one here got the 500$ off for memorial weekend?
-
As far as I know laptops do not need to be taxed as duties, you need to pay just some other taxes.View here :

-
Well, if Quebec is not listed, than yes, you don`t have to pay.
The only thing you should do is double check with your customs, but this guy bought the laptop using that shipping method and payed no duty. -

Very much tempting.I hope it doesnt have the problems of m15x.

here is absolute: you will pay PST and GSt or whatever your sales tax is. There will be no duty. If you ship by air there should be no brokerage fees and if you ship by ground there will probably be brokerage fees of around 60-100$. I talked with a guy from PCMW and I also ordered the Diamond PLUS warranty. The shipping is second day air or w/e and it will cost me $60 for shipping nothing more nothing less other than my PST and GST which is 12% together. hope that helps clear things up. Either way NO duty.

Probably best choice. i can't confirm that price for brokerage but last time I called fedex they said it was around $80.

Hi Helios
I also didn't get replies for mails today.Perhaps they went early on friday like many Americans.I would wait till Monday before getting angry. -
Yep, they are still "Your payment is waiting arrival" for me. Didn't matter to me at the time because on Wednesday I emailed and then I called (to ask about the Montevina delay) to confirm the transfer. I emailed them a few minutes ago to make them aware of the status.

There goes all my confidence
I asked them about this when I called them and the guy said the tech dept had some samples and he had seen one of them.I didn't ask anything about the wimax or different wireless thing as I didn't know of these.
He said some manufacturers like HP wasn't ready for centrino2 and that was why they were forcing Intel to push it back off and they could get those chips as needed and he expected a shortage of P9500 series in future. But not with orders right now.I really hope he's right. And they don't talk of the Wimax or wifi.I don't need that either. If everything else is as promised I would be a happy man.

At some point, when the evidence becomes obvious to the trained eye, professionalism invokes a duty to warn.
Sitting back and watching would be far from professional.
However your point is taken to a certain extent...once the warning has been sounded it is then up to the reader to make their own decision.
Some people will just continue to believe what they want to believe, while those with wisdom will adopt caution. -

If palladin is right they are cheating us with dates.

I am about to do a full update on it... sneak peek here
Donald knows what he is talking about.
Sager, Pro-Star, Eurocom are the key Clevo importer OEMs to North America.
If anyone is going to get the new units first, its them.
Other OEMs get their barebones from the 3 listed above. -
The_Observer 9262 is the best:)
Another blow and may be it's time to cancel the order
-
The_Observer 9262 is the best:)
It's in sig and taking about 60% of my brain processing power
-
if you pre-ordered, thats fine.... since it locks in a price and a reserved unit when it does ships.
I would not stress over it too much. -

Thanks Goph.
-
I said the same thing on the buyers thread.
You`re already in the list, now you just have to wait. -
Did they say the 1st of June ?
I dunno about you guys, but here, the 1st of june is the childrens` day. -
The_Observer 9262 is the best:)
They said mid June so shud be before 20th.
-
Perhaps. But sometimes, the actual build process can take only 2 days. Your estimate is just around there...
-
The_Observer 9262 is the best:)
They promise a 72hour burn in test after assembly,so it should be atleast 5 days.lol
-
The_Observer 9262 is the best:)
Ya I also heard that their tech team is doing something on it.

Clevo had built this barebone earlier?RAM is DDR3 also new right?
-
auburncoast Notebook Deity NBR Reviewer
I think its new for both. minkang you still didn't send me that email about the confirmation on shipping dates from PCMW. Please send?
-
I think the ram could be reliable. I see why not. -
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
The problem is that it is incredibly expensive, and it will only be able to address about 6GB...so you would be spending all that money over getting 4GB just to pick up 2GB.
Other than only being able to address about 6GB, we will have to wait and see how reliable it would be. -
-
IT depends on WHY you need this laptop.
For games, you won`t see the need for even 4 gigs anytime soon.
For hardcore apps, or server support, you may even want 16Gb
But, 4 GB is the smartest choice right now. -
Um, the laptop is supposed to be able to take 8GB of ram and the vista x64's take from 16 to 128+GB of ram depending on the one you choose. I think paladin needs to rest cause I don't know what he's talking about in this regard.

Here is your answer , Deathwinger
-
I know that that is the case with the d901c, but what possible reason could intel have to release a NEW chipset that has the same limitations....I would've thought montevina would've been designed to fix this...(like santa rosa fixed the 3.xxGB limit)
-
Yes, but some people just like that fact of having MORE than everything else, doesn't matter if they use it or not
(*cough* spoiled brats *cough*) wow, this is a bad cough.

P9500. Even with intense HD video editing work or 3d modelling, the render time of the t9600 in comparison to the p9500 or at least the t9400 (which was benchmarked with the t9600) is about 1 second. For me, going from a P4, that takes 10 mins to do what a core duo like the t9300 does in 3 mins or less, that's nothing to me!
Otherwise, you are getting a processor that runs cooler, potentially gives you more battery life, is cheaper, and if you are just gaming, will definitely suit your needs. -
im with deathwinger on that one.

Especially with the amazing Fan Toggle feature (Fn+1) that switches all fans to Max speed or Auto speed. -
