I've been following the efforts of those in the Alienware M17x and the Asus G73JH forums who are using the revised SetFSB utility to modify the bclk for the Core i7 processors. I'm interested in seeing whether Abo (author of SetFSB) can include the PLL/clock generator for the W870CU in the program to give us access to the same capability. To that end, does anyone have the PLL number/ID string for the 8760/W870CU? It would save another trip inside. Plus I'm not sure which chip I'd be looking for. Thanks.

I sent Abo an email requesting that he include the W870CU in SetFSB and providing him with the relevant data. I will let you know what response I get.
Unfortunately, Abo informs me that he cannot support the 8760.
"Hi Max-san, Thanks for the SLG8SP585V datasheet.
Bad news, SLG8SP585V doesn't have the function that changes FSB.
Unfortunately, I cannot support it.

They're fundamentally the same, with slightly varying coverage. The shareware version v2.3.147.112 is the one that includes the Asus models by name. The freeware version v2.2.134.98 includes many of the same generators and is functional for those. New models/generators that people request be added go into the shareware version and require a donation (500 yen) to unlock and use. But neither version works for the W860 or W870, and Abo says they can't be included because we have the wrong type of clock generator.
