Flashed and I am seeing a decrease in load temps like HT. Thanks Prema again! Can't wait to see how those undervolting mods are coming along
-
Did I miss something, is it not only o/cing ?
Why would you get lower load temps ? -

Do you know of a stable OC beyond 135 Mhz? I'm wary of updating the bios if it wouldn't be safe to OC beyond 135Mhz anyway...

Btw, I've been using the Zalman Mini cooler. It's fine... when it works. But the second one failed today. That's 40 bucks down the drain. -_- I've been running it 24/7, but that still doesn't give them an excuse to fail after just one month. I highly do not recommend getting them. -

By the way, what's the difference between 1.15v and 1.2v? Is there a setting in the bios that changes the voltage?
-
The BIOS with voltage change is an unreleased beta.
-
LaptopUserExtreme Notebook Consultant
oh.. so I shouldn't expect to go to 1150/1150 then at stock
-
With Prema's latest on his site, I'm running 1150 GPU /1150 vRAM (2300 effective). -
I wonder if this would work on the W370ET
-
The GT650M on W110ER has 1.10v stock voltage on boost clocks, which is reduced once 60c are reached, which is just silly because the fan spins higher only at 69c.
But yaeh its all stock on the v2.1. -
Hi Prema,
Your BIOS look awesome. Its not mentioned on the page but I have a W150ERQ by Mouse Computer (bought in Japan). I'm looking for an option in the bios to select Optimus controls that other notebooks usually have. Could you add this feature or do your BIOS already have it? -
The video signal is routed through the iGPU, so if we disable it there will be no picture at all.
We tested and verified that it doesn't work, so the option is useless that's why its not there.
I am looking for someone with a Eurocom BIOS. The letter EU shows behind the version number on the BIOS page.
If you have such BIOS on an W110ER (Eurocom Monster 1.0), please PM me. THX! -

Maybe

Nope, but the EC...

I'll probably have to donate again! Totally worth it!

any BIOS relation? this "claims" 6.5 hours!? -
Not sure how they can magically get 6.5 hours battery life. I can manage maybe 4:15 with no wi-fi, screen minimum brightness, power saver mode, SSD turned off, and only typing in notepad.
-
I can get slightly over 4 with screen at 30%, CPU at 1.2ghz, everything forced to run on HD4000, using Word and browsing the internet.
-
I can barely get 4 hours

Hey All,
I'm currently deployed and trying to update my bios with Prema's Mod. However, I cannot access his website so I had a friend download it for me. With that being said, he sent me two files...
1. W170ER_06_stock.rar
2. W170ER_06_PM_v1.1.rar
Also with no instructions. Whenever I open these .rar files it prompts for me for a password. Could anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks! -

his website (might work try it again) biosmods W170ER
best of luck -
Man I just realized he downloaded the wrong version. I have a Clevo W110ER.
Oh well, thank you for the info! -
You are most welcome -
UPDATE: 8th August
W110ER/NP6110 Prema Mod v1.2 UV EDITION added on the blog
Changelog: – GT650M undervolted (credit: SVL7)
ENJOY! -
I think I may check out that undervolt mod.
-
-
Tried the undervolt BIOS, thanks. Running 1080 GPU / 1150 vRAM @ 72C peak with Kombustor. Only get 1150MHz GPU with overvolt, so I'll take this any day!
-
Is the GPU undervolted by default, or do I have to use a 3rd party program to change the voltage? Also, does this do anything for battery life if using the HD4000 exclusively, or is it only for heat while gaming?
From what I hear, it's actually impossible to undervolt a mobile Ivy Bridge CPU, correct? -
Also, does this vBios undervolt all the time, or just on load ?
How much of a decrease in voltage are we talking about =)
(can't test now, my clevo beeing repaired I'm back on a netbook - traumatic experience ^^) -
We just cannot do it -
That BIOS undervolts all clocks of the 650 and does that all the time whithout any software required...it will run cooler and use less electricity.
-
And it does! Idling much lower at the wall and much lower temps (idling at 38c) and load temps are just as amazing.. A quick run of furmark doesn't yield temps higher than 65c. I will need to let it run longer to get a more accurate number though.
-
I will definiely give this a try when I get home from work, then.

So.... I just tried the latest low voltage bios mod... and bricked my computer. I'm looking up how to remove the bios battery. But just letting you know...
-
LaptopUserExtreme Notebook Consultant
Is there an easier way to get the cable out? Am I supposed to move the memory before taking it out? Can I just pull on the top connector, or is there some other magic?
-
Just remove battery and mains and pull the cable for 30 seconds...but what happened during the flash?
The system boots with optimus only it doesn't use the GT650m until it reaches windows and the driver loads...that's why there is the regular Prema Mod incl. in that update to return to in case it crashes while going into windows. -

The first time I flashed:
1. after installation, it auto-shut off.
2. I restarted the computer, but it showed the blue background boot screen, then died.
3. I restarted it again, and it worked fine. I went into the bios and used same settings as I did in v1.0, and did the save and reboot.
4. It stopped booting after that.
That was harrowing. I managed to get it out by pushing at it from both sides with some keys. I didn't realize I need a pincet, and all the stores are closed by this time. But I needed the computer, so I went ahead and did it. It's my first time resetting a CMOS battery.
I can boot it now. Will using a key like that decrease the lifetime of the component?
...
It's done anyway.
I don't know, it's weird. I re-installed the UV bios, and this time the exact sequence of events was:
1. after installation, it auto-shut off.
2. I restarted the computer, but it showed the blue background boot screen, then died.
3. I restarted it again, and it worked fine, but some icons weren't showing in windows taskbar.
4. I restarted again, and now it's ok (except somehow it unregistered my office)
Strange... -
It's normal that it does a second reboot to write the new nvram.
Your Icons on the bottom right screen allways mess up with blanks after you pull the cmos...after first shutdown and reboot with battery back in its fine.
With an UV BIOS your system should have a prolonged life.
Edit: Oh misunderstood your question...yes the connector should be treated carefully.
Regarding Office...I have no idea...LOL -
So pardon my stupidity - but the UV - does the 650 still run at full speed when called on? (havent had the balls to overclock anything as of yet)
-
Yes all clocks are same and most people can still reach a nice overclock on top...ENJOY!
-
Good that you found out the truth -
-
I've tried the UV bios. Great temps prime+furmark (-8/9*C). But, strangely, I got my first sudden restart ever (on battery). Anyone experienced this?
-
What does undervolting do? Is it just for battery conservation purposes or does it serve any real purpose?
