I have the system in my sig with VISTA64 and SP1 installed. My Video Driver is 174.90, not that it matters for this problem.

Everytime I go to attach a file in an email program my system locks up and just sits there, can't move the mouse cursor, hardrive stops accessing, busy indicator stops spinning. I have tried YAHOO, GMAIL and EMAIL.com and it is the same thing.

    Any ideas? Insights?

Any help would be much appreciated.

    I second that...

Also, make sure you have your browsers up to date. :)

All programs are up to date including IE. I just can't believe that this computer running any program won't attach a file without locking up. $4000 of irritation.

Good call on the fix. I switched to FireFox and had no problems. I still have no idea why IE won't attach any files on this computer but the other 4 in my house work fine.

Are all the others running _Vista x64, and do they have a RAID 0 configuration?

The others are XP with no RAID configuration (bangs head at the obvious).

I will say that after using FireFox for the last half a day, I wish I would have switched sooner. It is much faster and has a very polished crisp feel.

Hey, just a lucky guess on my part; besides which, the hardest things to see are usually the things right there in front of our noses, staring us in the face. :D

Is Firefox 3 really that much better than IE7? I want the newbie's response right after switching (since I've never used it :D ), not the polished response of an FF pro.

No,Opera 9.5 is better. Feels easier and you get more customising options.
I tried them both, FF cannot handle my 35 tabs.Nor can it arrange them correctly.

Firefox on the other hand has a colorful tabs add-on. Which colors every tab in a different color and makes them easy to distinguish while beautifying the overall appearance of the interface! :D

I don't particularly care for Opera, but I think that FF is definitely something that anyone who uses IE7 should at least TRY. In fact, I don't think there is anything that I miss about IE7 that isn't as good in FF or better...

Suppose one tries FF, decides that it's not one's cup of tea, and wants to go back to IE7 (humor me; I'm a wacko :D ); will the installation of FF create real problems when trying to revert to IE7? I ask because I've come across miscellaneous posts and whatnot on the web describing problems like that, although generally these items were quite old.

Well personally I have both IE7 and FF installed so, there really shouldn't be a problem if you do decide to try FF and go back to IE7. I think you'd just be able to simply uninstall FF and go on your merry way back to IE7... :)

NOTE: It isn't a bad idea to have both even if you do end up liking FF more than IE7 because a small minority of webpages STILL only seem to work with IE7 (can't name one off the top of my head but some are still around although really not many).

    Hope this helps! :D

If you get an add on called IE Tab, you can render web pages in IE from within a FF tab...It's great! I'm pretty sure you still need to have IE installed tho. You can also set specific sites to auto load in IE tab if you visit them regularly (my online banking wouldn't let me use FF3 while it was in beta, so I just told IE tab to load it...Worked flawlessly)

No problems, I've been using it for years, It really can save a lot of hassle (well, a little hassle many times...)
