Has anyone worn away the black/silver paint on the wrist-rest portion of the casing below the keyboard?

(Just curious; as a former Thinkpad owner, which is black all the way through I've never worried; a friend with an Asus wore through the paint in no time on his machine.. looks awful.)

    Good question...

I don't own one of the new models. I have a Sager 5750 (silver colour) and the wrist-rest is somewhat a different colour than the rest now (nothing serious though). It's just like faded a little.
So I don't know how the new black notebooks hold up but I'd like to know as well.

    quick note:

if you are getting palm/sweat stains on the palm rests areas... you are not typing correctly.

if you are typing correctly, then there should be not no need to worry about the palm rest areas... even when gaming.

I, as well as other notebook gamers, have gone over this. Personally, I have owned my notebook for a year and a half and have yet to leave any palm marks on the palmrest.... and logged many hundreds of hours of gaming as well.

But there is a solution for those that have a habit of resting the palm there:

Gel Pad for Wrist - about $6

Its portable and works for those that I have recommended it to. :)

I can't imagine the palm rests on the NP2090 would ever wear out, doesn't seem like the black plastic color is from paint, but rather from solid black colored plastic itself.

This is true. If you see anyone's laptop with the paint coming off the palm rests they you know for a fact that they are typing incorrectly.

I have never had any palm rest wear with any of my notebooks. Your palms should not be touching anything except a special wrist rest.

i got my wireless keyboard and mouse, so no need to even touch the laptop anymore. it doesn't look like it would wear away though. i can't say the same for the keyboard though, some of the more used keys like the space bar are starting to show a little wear if you look at it at an angle.

I am hoping the keyboard lettering wont disappear if I ever decide to play another MMORPG! (My old keyboard had keys like G - F - R etc fade away), not sure how good the paint is on the keyboard though :((
