Hi all, I looked through the forum and couldn't find anything on this. I recently upgraded firmware on my 5791 for fan control and updated the Video driver from the Sager site also. Now when I close the lid and let it sleep it has a Memory Parity error - System Hallted contact Manufacturer error. I then need to restart to get running again. Is this something obvious?

    MAny thanks,

    Hi,

That sounds crummy. When you close the lid, when does the memory parity error occur? When you try to restore it from sleep mode? Does the system respond at all? Do you hear any funny noises in the system (e.g. hard disk noises)? It sounds like a hard disk issue.

    Ummm... I don't think it's a hard drive error.

Parity error indicates something wrong with some type of flash memory, ie: your RAM or GPU RAM. I doubt this problem would stem from updating the fan control, the video card update sounds more dubious. I would try rolling back the video card driver.

Are you running vista/xp? I know vista at least has had some problems with sleep mode.

I think it was the updated video driver. It happens when I open the lid and wake it up. I downloaded a new driver from Laptopvideo2go and instead of the Parity Error I got an endless flashing screen when I opened the lid. I've reverted to the original video driver off the cd and all is well again. Does anyone know what driver works well for a 5791/ 7950gtx/ WinXP Sp2?

    Thanks.

Deandec, so far 171.16 gave me the best performance for the 7950gtx and Xp sp2.
