    Hey!

I am an exchange student from Germany, living in the U.S. right now.
I want to buy the Sager NP8690 with xoticpx.com, but I can't find a way to actually pay for it with a German bank account, because they only accept US and Canadian credit cards.
Is there a different place to buy this laptop with a German bank account? Or would I have to withdraw the money and give it to my host family here, so they could pay for it?
    Help is appreciated!

    Jeff

Perhaps PayPal? I'm not sure how PayPal works internationally, I've never tried. They accept bank wires, but again, not sure how that would work. If you can withdraw the money, you can get a cashiers check or money order at any bank (for a fee) and mail that to them.

If you are still able to do international bank to bank money transfers then you can pay with your German bank account.

They only ship to the paypal-verified address, and I can't change my Paypal-account's adress to a US one :(

International bank to bank money transfer= wire transfer?

Yeap, if you can do that then you can order from Xotic, just give them a call or email.

International wire transfer should work. You should contact your bank about possible fees, though.
You can also at any bank or post office buy a money order with your credit card and use that.
(both these ways I think also give you xotic's cash discount)
I would email xotic for details.

Or you can, as you said, give cash to your hosts and have them pay for it.

msyn.de sells clevos/sagers in germany too

bin selber deutscher und hatte mir das mal angeschaut. wegen import zöllen und mwst solltest du dir die seite mal anschauen sonst könnte das mit xotic schnell teurer werden als der vermeintlich teurere kauf bei mysn

Buying from the States maybe cheaper but ask with your vendor if+how they support local repair services.

ich bin Niederländer und habe schon drei Sagers direct aus den VS gekauft. Fur mein ältesten system (8890 aus 2003) habe ich in 2008 eine neue Hauptplatine bestellen müssen, würde geliefert aus Deutschland :)

Well, I don't want to buy it in Germany, because I'm in the US right now :)
I'll be home in 7 months, and don't want to wait that long to get a laptop...
I doubt customs would have me pay duty on a 7 months old laptop...at least I hope so

I'll be using it for 7 months here in the US, so if there's anything wrong with it I should be able to replace it while I'm here...and if the laptop works for 7 months without flaws, I doubt I really need the warranty in Germany

I wouldn't worry about costums/duty problems either. You'd just be crossing the border with your laptop, no big deal. I would check with xotic about international warranty issues, though, you never know what might happen in month 8-12.
