Hey all,
Went to order an m8660 just now and realized that I have absolutely no clue how to pay for it! The limit on my credit card is much lower than the amount of the computer (obviously) and so I was wondering what I can do. I am living in Canada, so I will be buying the machine through Eurocom. The computer will be around $3000 CAD. I see under payment options that there is wire transfer, and "Net 30 days." What are they, and how do I use them? The issue is not the money itself, so I do not need to pay it off over time or anything like a lease. Ideas?
Thanks for they help, and sorry for the noob question, I just have never bought anything big before... ever.![]()

there are few ways to do it. wire transfer as you said, or checks, or money order (my personal favorite)
if you are going for wire transfer, ask eurocom for their bank/account details, and bring them to your bank, I am sure it's pretty easy. -
Could you please explain a money order?
-
You could contact your credit card vendor and see if they will raise your maximum amount. You can get it to $7500 easily.
-
Thank for that Nirvana. Is this the same thing as a cashiers check?

It says on the site you posted that the maximum amount for the money order is $999.99. Does this mean that I will need three of them? Also, it says that the only acceptable payment for a money order is debit or cash, but then I run into the same problem as before cause my debit card limit is lower than 3000. This is starting to become more trouble than its worth I think...

I suggest you compare both price quotes from xoticPC and eurocom after tax and shipping. from what I've heard xoticPC would cost you less.
-
Thanks MrDJ. I shall try that. When I originally phoned the credit card company and tried to change the limit on my card they said the automated voice said "she" couldnt because my card is less than 3 months new. Maybe if I talked to someone in person and explained that I wish to make a one-time large purchase they would be more agreeable. Is this possible?

Wow so i priced out an identical machine on xoticpc and converted it to Canadian bucks and I would save over 400 dollars before taxes by ordering from them instead, so merci about that Nirvana. You are quite knowledgeable and I will be adding you some rep. Now that ive done that and it comes out to be a better AND less expensive machine than the AW m15x I had priced out, I will most surely go for it. Now I just need to figure out a payment scheme.... hmmmm

you dont pay brokerage if you choose the expedited shipping, and you only pay local tax if you do that; the only thing to worry about is warranty with xoticPC since you would have to ship it on your own budget if it craps out since you're in canada... im facing the same dilemma right now myself being in canada but my mind is made up on going with xoticPC tonight hopefully...

I shall be joining you heukyung, assuming I can get a hold of the credit card company and make them up my limit for this month. Cheers

I'm in Canada too, and I'm telling you right now that if you want to buy from Eurocom, make sure you get them to "price match" with XoticPC. If you buy straight from them, you're overpaying by a ridiculous amount (about $600 even after shipping).
One thing I should point out is that if you're a student then you get 50% off shipping from XoticPC. If you use UPS express ($110), you don't pay a customs brokerage fee, which is worth it. To sum up, when you import from XoticPC, the only additional cost is $55 (50% of $110) for shipping, plus GST+PST which you would have to pay to Eurocom anyways. The only additional cost of importing is currency exchange (depends on your creditcard/payment method) and $55 for shipping.
The last thing I'd like to mention is that if you buy from XoticPC, you're buying a Sager (the NP8660). If you buy from Eurocom, you're not (its their version of the M860tu). If you look around, you'll see that Sager has significantly better review's than Eurocom does. If this meant nothing to you, read Gophn's Clevo thread. -

Concerning customs and taxes, check out paladin44's post here. He summed it up pretty well.
-
Maybe you could overpay the card the amount you wish to buy with, and have a negative balance on your card? I wonder if there is a limit/clause to that...
-
I think the point of a limit is so that you can't spend any more than it. Unless maybe OP has overdraft.

XoticPC has free chat with their sales reps. Start one up, they'll explain everything. Basically when you order online, theres a comments box. In that box you have to write that you're a student. They confirm it later, once your order has gone through.
Do the chat thing, they'll explain everything. -

I plan on using PayPal along with the Virtual Debit Card feature.
