FYI: I think this should be moved somewhere else, considering this isn't directly related to Sager/Clevo.

Has anyone used this to purchase a laptop? I'm unable to assemble ~$2000 to drop on a new 5791 (to replace my 8790), so I'm looking at alternatives to this. This seems to be what I need in order to purchase my new machine (this, and permission from the Mrs. )

I've never used this, but with all the horror stories I've heard about PayPal I'd be weary. It's impossible to contact a human being through their customer service and they locked down my friend's account (and over $200) for months with no resolution for no reason.

Have you thought about applying for a general credit card with a 0% introductory APR?

Yeah but a credit card is a short term loan. You have to pay in full the balance a month later. That PP credit line is composed of small monthly payments over a long period of time.

So instead of applying for a credit card, maybe you should go to your local bank and apply for a personal loan. That way, you know who you're dealing with and you have a person/place you can go to to get assitance, as apposed to over the internet and the phone.

I agree a personal loan is a good alternative, but a credit card with a 6-month (or longer) 0% APR does not have to have the balance paid back after one month to avoid interest (just the minimum payments). The better option really depends on the desired length of the term of the loan.

Also, it has to deal with if you want to apply for another Credit Card. Personally, I don't like applying for a new Credit Card every time I want to get something for 0% over a length of time.

I use a paypal buyer credit and its been really nice. Only thing that really sucks is their customer service, because it takes forever to get to a rep. Other than that it works pretty nice.

Sounds like it's PP buyer credit w/ crappy customer service or go local and pray for no APR.

I'd like to make $100/month payments on the laptop, so that it's paid off in 2 years, so this knocks out any 1-year only options.

    2000 / 12 = $167/month (that's too much for me right now)
