    hi all,

About to pull the trigger on the above, what’s the build quality like? The defiance v is all metal, including the bottom, palm rest, sides and top.

How does the recoil 2 17 inch compare? I’m a little put off by the keyboard, but the thin bezels appeal.

Hi, these are two very different laptops: https://noteb.com/?model/comp.php?c...8_2129&conf1=10449376076029999104_1681&ex=USD
One is made by Tongfang, a relatively new company, which so far has received positive reviews and has shown to make good laptops. The only issue is that we don't know how well their laptops will fair long-term.
The other one is the Clevo PA71EP/ES. Clevo has a long history of making good gaming laptops, but their last P71 series have a bit of trouble cooling the new Intel 8th Gen processors as far as I know, so it is recommended you re-apply the thermal paste on the processor for this one.

Both have a very good build quality and are primarily made of aluminium.

Regardless of what you get, I heard PCSpecialist has some pretty poor customer support, so I would advise you get these laptops from XMG / mysn.de.

Haven't seen too many Tongfangs in the states for comparison, but the PA71 series is solid enough.

The clevo gives optimus/g-sync switching which is a nice feature to have.

That sounds like it would be good for power saving most definitely.

    Now I’m stuck between the 1440p screen vs. 1080p, an i7 8850h or an i7 8750h and the 1060 vs 1070!

    How’s gaming on the 1060 vs 1070 on 1080p and 1440p respectively?

What is the resale value on a clevo machine like compared to an asus/msi/alienware/dell unit?

So it's the same laptop, just different panel ? And you divided it into two submodels to avoid confusion. right?

No, it doesn't have the H series CPU, no integrated GPU to switch to. Optimus in these depends only on the display.

G-sync is an option, the igp is not powered.
