I hope I can get this problem detailed out enough, but here I go:

I bought my laptop from discountlaptops.com a couple of months ago (around October) and did a clean format, with all of my drivers coming from either a clevo based manufacturer (Prostar in this case), and my video card driver coming from laptopvideo2go.com (ver. 179.13, for 9800m GTX card).

Everything was working fine up until near the end of the month, my computer started "stuttering" and while it is stuttering, my computer runs a lot slower (for example, when I play a game, the computer and the sound starts to stutter really fast for a few seconds, stop, and start again until I quit out of the game or the game stops being CPU intensive like in the menus, etc.)

It even started to stutter outside of the games, like when I start up XP, the intro music started stuttering (stutter, stop, stutter) until it finished loading the OS, which takes a longer time to start due to the whole stuttering mess.

What I did to fix this problem the first time around was to do a clean format on my computer, which did fix the problem for a while.

However, the stuttering problem came around again after I installed the pc version of the original Halo, and I was in the middle of playing it when I first noticed the stuttering again. I thought it was just the game, so I quit out of it, but the rest of the computer then started to stutter and become generally sluggish.

This time, I tried defragging my computer (using Perfectdisk 2008, normal and boot-time), and I also tried updating my drivers (including the video card driver from laptopvideo2go.com, using the latest version 180.70) to no avail.

    My laptop setup is:

    Clevo M570TU

17" WUXGA (1920 x 1200) Super Glossy Type HD Display
    Intel Core 2 Duo T9400 2.53GHz 6MB L2 Cache 1066MHz FSB
Artic Silver 5 (AS5) Thermal CPU Paste Compound
    NVIDIA GeForce 9800M GTX w/1024MB DDR3
    2048MB PC2-8500/1066Mhz DDR3 - 1 DIMM
    250/5400rpm GB SATA-150
    8X DVD±R/RW / 4X+DL Super Multi Drive & Software
    Integrated V.90/56K Modem (V.92 compliant)
    10/100/1000 BASE Fast Ethernet LAN
    Intel Wi-Fi Link 5300AGN 802.11a/g/n
    Internal Bluetooth Card
    Smart Li-Ion Battery Pack
    Built-In 7-IN-1 Flash Memory Reader
Integrated 2.0 Megapixel Digital Video Camera

I was hoping to see if there are any solutions short of sending my laptop back to the company, and I don't feel like going through another format without help.

PS If I can, I'll try posting a video on Youtube of the problem so you guys can see the stuttering yourself, but I'm going to have to get a camera from a friend, which might take a while.

I had the same issues, and its not OS specific. I upgraded from a P9500 to an X9100 to fix it, but that didn't help. Then I upgraded my BIOS to the .09 bios, which almost completely fixed it. The final fix was to upgrade my wifi drivers, of all things. Flash a new BIOS and update your wifi and see if that fixes it.

Emike, could you post a link to where you got the BIOS flash at? I want to make sure I use the right one just in case.

Also, could you outline how you upgraded your processor? I'll like to do that in the future, and I'll be interested in learning how to replace my old one.

BTW, Thanks for the quick reply once again guys! There's no better place than this forum for fixes.

Upgrading the CPU? Buy the new CPU, open the computer, unscrew the heat sink, take the old cpu out, put the new cpu in, apply thermal grease, screw the heatsink back in, enjoy.

Burn the ISO with a program like PowerISO, restart, and let it do its thing. Don't worry, you won't hurt anything.

I flashed the BIOS and it didn't seem to work for me. I'll try switching over to Windows Vista and see if that works.

I highly recommend to do a hardware diagnostic... which can cause your issues.

RAM: get MemTest86+ .... burn the ISO and let boot from it to test
HDD: first do a CHKDSK C: /F to make sure there's no physical bad sectors:
......... then get HDTune ..... post the results of it
CPU: use wPrime (set to 2 threads) and also prime95.

I am having similar issues with also a CLEVO M570TU based notebook. Here are my specs:

    Intel Core 2 Extreme X9100 (3,06Ghz, 1066Mhz, 6Mb cache)
    nVIDIA GeForce 9800M GTX 1GB GDDR3
    4GB DDR3 1066MHz (2x 2GB)
Intel Turbo Memory 2GB for Vista ReadyDrive and Vista ReadyBoost
    320GB 7200RPM Serial-ATA (16Mb cache)

I am running Windows Vista x64 Ultimate but I also tried Windows XP Pro x86 and x64 also Windows Vista x86 and even Windows Server 2008 x86 and x64. When I play games like Enemy Territory Quake Wars and with the FPS unlocked I get over 200 FPS but for some reason every couple of seconds it my framerate drops below 30 FPS. In games like FIFA 09 I get freezes every few seconds.

I have tried a whole range of Forceware drivers including version 180.70 which can be downloaded from laptopvideo2go. I have also tried different versions of Intel WiFi drivers and different versions of the Intel Chipset drivers but without luck.

I am going to try a BIOS update next...
