Was wondering if anyone has any benchmarks showing the performance differences between the NP9261 and NP5791 as far as processors go.

I've looked all over this forum and it seems like everybody has said the 9261 is stronger but I can't really find by how much.

I don't know how 3dmark06 figures actually translate into FPS for a game.

I assumed that the Q6600 would blow away the T7700. If this is true, I will probably go with the 9261.

Thinking about going with the 5791 but the 9261 is very appetizing.

I heard the 9261 is pretty quiet in comparison to the 5791?

I have heard the 5791 and when the high speed fans kick in it does seem pretty loud.

Most likely both configurations of laptops I will use a single 7950 GTX, with hopes of upgrading to the 8800 later on when the need arises.

Would there be a big difference in FPS for games like Crysis?

Since the Q6600 is a qaud-core desktop it will last less on a charge.
There will be no or little difference in gameplay as it involves the GPU & both are the same. The T7700 should be efficient enough for most(all) tasks.

Is this true? I would imagine the Q6600 is significantly faster than a mobile CPU of any kind...

Charge I'm not so concerned about as I'll always be plugged in.

I know it is not confirmed if the 8800 will be able to plug and play into a 9261... but that is what I will eventually hope for.

If the application you are running is designed for four or more threads, the Q6600 will be faster than any mobile CPU, as it has four cores at 2.66 GHz. However, if the applications you are running are designed for one or two threads, the Q6600 will only give you a 266 MHz increase over the T7700, and is in fact slower than the mobile X7900. It all depends on whether you are running applications that are designed for four or more threads or not.

The Q6600 is twice the CPU that the T7700 is.

Look at the calculation benchmarks in wPrime.

Probably will be worth it to get the 9261, thanks!

I'll keep watching for news about the 8800M compatibility
