I've had this problem since I got the NP5165, it seemed to get better after I updated my drivers a couple months ago.
After a HD failure, reinstalling Windows 7 and updating the driver it has come back again.
Im running the JMicron Card Reader Driver 1.0.63.1. After installing the driver the card reader will read my 16GB SD card fine. If I pull the card out, restart the machine, put it in hibernation, anything; the card disappears and wont be recognized.
Sometimes pulling the card out and putting it back in works, sometimes it takes 5 times and it works; but most of the time, nothing. If I reinstall the drivers it comes up immediately; restart the computer/pull it out...gone again.
Has anyone had this issue and found a fix or any advice?

If the card reader drivers from Sager didn't help, you could try checking with the manufacturer's website (JMicron). I also know that reinstalling the Intel chipset driver may help a bit. Let me know if you get anywhere with those

I have a Jmocron in my Toshiba and it required a driver updated as it was causeing BSOD. I found that out on my own and went to the manufactures website for a newer driver and presto, no more issue. Then Toshiba came out with a notice of the new driver a few months later.
