The Clevo laptops look mighty tempting to me, but I've realised that a lot of the guarantees and peace of mind you get with the big manufacturers could be lost when buying one.

The thing that is bugging me is the pixel policy on the screens. I have read that dead pixels may be on the screens and even if they develop dead pixels later on while under warranty, it does not mean a replacement screen will be provided. This is quite risky for me.

    What do others think?

I've been using LCD displays since 2003 and any dead/stuck pixels have always been apparent from the moment I turned them on for the first time; never have any developed over the course of its usage.

Depends on the manufacturer of the screen, it happens with Clevo's and you can't take some one's experience with LCD screens and assume it's the same for any screen.. I've had a dead pixel or two for the first time in my life with my recent purchase. It actually came with it and I'm still within the 30 Day satisfaction time, so I've talked to the reps and I either have to RMA the notebook or pay for a replacement, I regret not getting the 60 day dead pixel guarantee, even though I shouldn't have to freaking worry that my device has a dead pixel... a lot laptop builders test screens before sending them off but Sager apparently.. I'm actually very disappointed but I do need a laptop.
