I placed an order for Dell XPS M1730 in April which now belongs to my younger brother(gave it to him on his birthday). So I decided to get a gaming machine for myself. After looking at 2 other UK resellers , I decided to go with Kobalt Computers because of their customer service. I will go into that later. Let me share my specifications with you.

I hope to do a review once it arrives(yes ,yes, I will include loads of screenshots and pictures).I have the opportunity to do a detailed comparison with the XPS M1730(specs in my signature), hopefully that works out well.

Well I confirmed with Neil from Kobalt that the screen on the Comanche is a LG.I will be able to tell the hardware ID of the screen when the machine is with me.
My XPS had a Samsung screen (hardware ID- SEC..) -
Nice config, the D901C family is expanding like rabbits

I don't think a desktop would similar setup would weight 12lbs

I agree Rambo.

True. I have to admit is quite nice to go working for 3 weeks 10000 miles away from home and still get all the stuff that I need with me.

well,any news?
-
Congrats nahiyan. I'm sure you will love once it arrives. Constantly impressed with mine and of course the boys at Kobalt are a class act. Their good customer service makes it seem even shinier!!
-
Hey thanks wayneski. You should post some pictures of your Comanche sometime.
-
I will. I got the whole thing sprayed Kobalt blue metallic and have to say it looks fantastic.
I was going to do a bit of a review of it (and the process of buying from Kobalt) but for some reason when I get it out, taking picture of it and typing in the keyboard (other than using wsad etc) quickly gets bumped to the bottom of my to do list! -
Lolz.
May I ask you, what carry case do you use for the Comanche SLI.I am looking for a good carry case myself. -

I also need to upgrade the HDD

Welcome to the family!

I have a targus backpack/rucksack thing. Cavernous amounts of room for the lappie and peripherals. Quite comfy to carry around. THink I ended up getting it from PC world business about 2 years ago.
Newb question now though. I have some pics now. How do i go about posting them up here? Never done it before.
Cheers -
Can anyone help?
-
An easy way to post pics on a forum is to upload them first to a free site that will host them such as photobucket.com (there are other sites, I just don't remember them off the top of my head). Then link them in your post. The sites that host images will usually have a link to your image once it is uploaded, then you just copy and paste the link into the message you are posting on the forum. Not too difficult to figure out once you try it.
-
more please
-
then if you want the pics to actually show in your post (as opposed to just linking to them) use the photobucket tool "generate

Looks really good mate!!
-
Cheers,
really pleased with the paintjob and it shines up really nicely. I have even polished it!! CAn't say I have ever done that to ANY computer before.
Paint also seems quite deep so hopefully it will stand the test of time.
Personally I think it looks as good as anything alienware dishes out (then takes back due to heat, downclocking, cracked case, sommit missed on the 200 point check etc etc) -
I changed the processor in my Comanche SLI. Previously I had a Q9450 quad core, changed it today to a Intel Xeon X3360 Quad Core processor @2.83 GHz.
-
let us know how you get onwith it. From what I have read it is pretty much the same as what I've got (ish). Whats the leadtime on it? Intel are being a pain with the latest processors and not getting their finger out on supply.
-
It is basically the same except that it has some 'server' option. Well Kobalt are getting the stock this Friday(13th),so I was told I am going to receive delivery on Monday.
-
great news,i m waiting for ur review!
-
-
soooooooooooooooooooooooooo,any progress?
-
Well, yes I received my machine on Monday.I am flying to Singapore today for work.So it will be a few days mate, before I do the in-depth review. However I can post some benchmark figures .
-
I`d like a D901C - XPS1730 side by side too.
