So I am either going for the Mythlogic Chaos 1313 (Clevo w230ST) or the Mythlogic Pollux 1413 (Clevo w350ST).
I really cant make up my mind. I will use it to develop indie games and to play LoL, Dota 2 and such, not super AAA games.
I move around a lot, home, work, lan party, etc. My computer usually goes for about 8 to 10 hours of continued use every day. Of those usually 2-3 hours are gaming. I am ok with medium settings, dont care about high or ultra. I need it to look professional because of meetings.
It needs to be able to take a beating because I move around alot, which one has better build quality?
w230 has better screen, keyboard and portability but lacks an optical drive and I really suspect it will melt.
w350 has optical drive, numpad, is a bit cheaper, no backlight, has bigger screen which might be comfortable for reading code all day, but still has only 1 fan. Does it run cooler? If so this might be a deal.
Basically I would like to know which laptop has a longer life expectancy. I need it to last at least 3 years, 4 if possible and 5 would be great.
Which laptop would you get? Does the better potential temps + numpad + 15inch + optical drive outweight the nice IPS 13inchs + backlight + portability ?
Is Mythlogic fair offering the i5 CPU instead of the typical i7? Does it give better temps?

Questions:
1. are you going with stock builds of each or are you upgrading? The reason i ask is, if you have more money to play with and a 15" isn't out of consideration, I would consider moving up to the chaos 1613 black and upgrading to a msata ssd later while getting the benefits of a better gpu options now... Since the better gpu could play into the machine's longevity -depending on how you define it.
2. You say you are moving around a lot. Are you moving the machine in a quality bag or are you just carrying the thing around with you? Regardless, I would think that, as long as you are taking care of the thing, it should sustain some minor bumps without issue -regardless of the machine you choose.
3. With as much use as your laptop is going to get, I think that how you take care of it (I.e. Cleaning, pasting, etc) is going to play a big part in how long the machine lasts you. Take care of her, and I thing she should last you a good long while.
All of this being said, as far as a choice is concerned, I personally want the most horsepower I can comfortably carry. I like the w230st. Great horsepower in an easy to tote package, however, the 765m doesn't have the kind of power that I think will satisfy me for several years' use. So, I either compromise on power (and my long term happiness with the computer) or i compromise on size and risk getting tired of lugging the thing around. For me, I would prefer to deal with the size. -

Can't give anything definitive on lifespan since the units are still new. I believe they're both made of ABS plastic though, so durability/ruggedness would be comparable between the two.

Thank you for your insights. Last Friday I placed an order for Pollux 1413. Main reason was them only being able to rush that product. I have a very short window span before my relatives come back from NY to South America so I needed to rush the build.
I am anyway happy with my decision. I fear 13' was just too little for everyday heavy use regardless of 1080p or peripherals. My vision is not perfect. Also it is nice to have a numpad, it has been 5 years since I bought my actual laptop and I really miss the damn numpad. The backlit keyboard in the Chaos was nice but I always prefer to have less stuff that could possibly fail and need service. I live far away so I need everything to be as safe as possible, that is why I went with Mythlogic too
I agree that the bigger 15' Clevo chassis are better because you can upgrade GPU's and they have two fans, but the rushing fee really cut me short some irreplaceable dollars which I have no real way to acquire.
So yeah, Pollux 1413 i7 4700MQ, 8gb, 750gb 7200rpm, GTX765m, 95% gamut 15', Intel Ultimate Wifi.
In black friday or cyber monday I will buy a mSata. -

The W350ST is a fun machine. Very easy to open up if you ever need to troubleshoot hardware or replace something as well.
Placing order at Mythlogic tomorrow. Need help making final decision.
