Mythlogic uses custom bios which are expensive to create, which is where most of the overhead comes from. Once you get past that, most of there upgrades (especially the 3720QM and 3820QM) are cheaper.

Sager and Eurocom are importers. Malibal is not. They're not the same.

Then you need to invest more time.

I'll rep you if you link me to this ad.

Resellers only get the notebooks with stock drives and stuff if you order it that way. Sager puts in all the customizations you order that they offer, then if there's anything reseller specific like Xotic's 4x2GB deal then it goes to them first to get that. If it doesn't need to go to the reseller, Sager ships it directly to you.

i think "get" accomplished that quite nicely.

so drive belts just magically appear in your mechanic's garage? or does he get them from somewhere?

best reply of the entire thread.

so clevo shells magically appear at malibal? like i've said at least five times now, whether they import shells directly from clevo or indirectly through other OEMs (like sager or eurocom) is completely irrelevant to this discussion. sager, eurocom, and malibal are the same type of entity to the extent that they take a clevo shell and produce their own branded product from it, which is then ultimately sold to the end consumer.

haha troll, please. invest more time into reading the whole thread.

just like malibal and eurocom. durrrrrr.

If they "magically appear", then I don't think he would be wasting time in nowhere USA fixing up used vehicles. Magic? No. But rather, he buys them from his local parts supplier. Now that supplier may be an importer, but most likely he is actually a wholesaler of auto parts. However, the wholesaler may or may not be an importer. And the chain of "middle man" goes on.

Thanks! +1 rep, if you please.

Magic again? I'd be willing to gamble a lunch they actually get them from one of the three importers rather than with a spell or wave of a wand.

Agreed on this point. But people keep stating things as fact that need correction.

Agreed on this point as well.

I don't think I have anything else to add along these tangential discussions. We've covered the OP question (regarding the warranty), and unless Malibal themselves want to post, I don't think there's much to add to the thread's discussion.

here, why don't you try retailer and reseller. you'll make more sense that way.

    rep'd.

strange, nowhere in the article you've linked can i find who these magic three importers of i don't know what are (AGAIN, not like it's relevant)...? typo? i saw what justin over at xoticpc had to say. as the resident import expert, maybe you can make more sense of it than i can:
    -------------------------------------------------------------------
if by "we've" you mean me and wolfster, then yes, i agree that we've covered the warranty question--unless you consider you're piggybacking on my post seemingly only to share that you took an intro level sales course of some non-legal sort, then i suppose you've covered it too. but this...
...tends to make me think you never hit those books very hard.

and just in case you missed this from forty-two posts ago (thank you, hizzaah):

edit: which you've apparently seen at least once before according to this post.

No. Please don't put words in my mouth. Wholesaler is the word I wanted to use. See Wholesale - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. They usually don't sell to the end user (with the possible allowance of "Wholesale Clubs") So, In general, I cannot buy from an auto-parts wholesaler. Kinda takes me back to a long, long time ago, I used to be involved with Merisel (they were our supplier/wholesaler of IT equip.), and we were retailing that to the end user - (Thx for the "retailer link", BTW.)

    Merci beaucoup.

Sorry, I wasn't more explicit. Since I'm not actually involved, I cannot say w/out certainty (and by no means am I an import / export expert), but these three names keep coming up as Clevo importers, Eurocom, ProStar, and Sager. What this means that after the "Clevo Shells" have been manufactured in Taiwan, they are sold and then sent out to the importers. For those in North America, those entities seem to be the three mentioned in the previous sentence. After they are imported, those importers sell their goods to builders - Mythlogic, RJTech, Malibal, as well as kept back for (or sold back to) themselves in the case of Sager and Eurocom. For other posts mentioning these three names, see -

In regards to the link of the word "importer", that was to provide a def'n of what exactly an importer does, as there have been posts in this thread where I'm afraid the posters do not seem to grasp the meaning of that word. I guess it comes down to semantics again.

No, I mean all the ppl that participated in the thread.

Actually, it was Business Law, but your way off base on the petty remark.

Nope. Didn't miss it. As you pointed out, I had a post regarding this in another thread:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/sager-clevo/669623-quality-sager-5.html#post8600679

And you can find a post of mine in the original Malibal thread as well - http://forum.notebookreview.com/sager-clevo/629173-malibal-builder-5.html#post8129077 Funny. But that post had legal overtones as well. Maybe more flashbacks from Business Law? Who knows.

Wow get over it, as jclausius has proven, it's not a secret that there are only three Clevo importers for N.A. It's been confirmed by all the resellers. Even AVA Direct and RJ Tech have to go through one of the resellers. Just get it from the source then, go with Sager, or Pro-Star IMO. Finding aftermarket parts on NewEgg on massive sales and installing yourself is cheaper and more fun.

dude, please stop with this. we're not speaking here, we're typing messages back and forth. you sound downright creepy.

so then we can be sure that even if malibal subcontracts with sager and eurocom for part of their clevo shell supply, none of these companies are wholesellers. again, relevance?

cool. had Merisel done more business, they might've needed to extend the chain through resellers.

sorry i haven't been more clear. relevance? if nothing else, you've established that one difference between sager and malibal (see: thread title) is that sager imports their supply directly from clevo whereas malibal indirectly imports (remember, we agree things generally don't magically appear?) their supply through other OEMs like sager, prostar, and eurocom. do you feel like you're through to me now? because this was never truly in dispute. i've found that when dealing with certain types of people, repeating back to them what they're trying to communicate, however unncecessarily, can sometimes make everything all better.

really? condascending are we? i think really the problem here is that nobody quite understands why you're force-feeding the definition of the word 'importer' as some term of art. relevance?

an intro level business law course of the non-legal sort... get it?

you remembered that libel is published defamation. cool. relevance?

jclasius and i are having a discussion here. what have YOU contributed to this thread aside from making it harder to follow the more coherent posts?

Remember some people post using voice recognition software. Otherwise, don't be silly. If it helps I was metaphorically "posting" (?speaking?). Perhaps that removes some of the creepiness.

None in regards to Malibal. However, the context of wholesaler was in the thread discussion regarding the auto mechanic and belts.

True enough. The warranty portion in the OP was answered as well as the title of the thread.

Agreed. I understand where you're coming from.

No condescension intended. The words 'import'/'importer' were being thrown around, but it was unclear if posters have the basics of what an importer does.

Not intro level, but advanced level for accountants, who must understand and know the laws of the land.

It became relevant when it was brought up I may not be familiar w/ that post from Hizzah. My mentioning my post on that thread points out that I am familiar w/ that thread. My libel comment was just an aside, and is irrelevant.

No more than having a discussion on my part.

But paraphrasing something from a short time ago, I think we're nearing the end of thread's usefulness.

Yes agreed, the thread has outlived it's usefulness.
