    Dear All,

    I want to go 15''.
What a better moment than this????
    I have 3 questions:

    1) Is the MxM 3 module on NP8690 future proof? I mean will i be able to upgrade to i.e. nvidia 300 series?
    2) Which 250 gb SSD should I go for, OCZ or Corsair?
    3) I would like to stick to 1600x1000 res instead of 1900x1200. Are there any arguments aganist this choice? I want to play native res and I think 280gpu is too weak to play max on 1900x1200, that's' why.
    4) I have a sLI dell (my sig).. should I wait next gen gpus to buy a new lappy?? This is far the most important question!

Thanks a lot for your kind advise, I appriciate!

    1. Yes.
    3. Its up to you, what you like and prefer. Better desktopspace or playing native res in all games?
    4. Your laptop with 8800M GTX SLI are better than a single GTX 280M. Maybe it would be wise to wait and see how good the 3XX are.

    1. answered
    2. OCZ
    3. 1600x900 will be best for gaming
    4. Unless going smaller is absolutely a necessity, you have enough gaming firepower to wait until the next gen.

    2. I like my Supertalent in my sig. anad have had zero issues with it so far.
I also have a 60gb OCZ vertex which is nice too just smaller so I'm cautious on what I put on it.
    4. I tend to agree with the your current SLI setup and I'd wait. That machine should handle just about anything maybe not with all the eye candy all the time but still no slouch.
Early to mid next year will be interesting with the integrated GPUs (hybrid mode?), smaller CPUs.

I don't even have SLI and I still won't be upgrading. The NP8690 doesn't offer enough of a performance boost for me to consider this. As others have mentioned, your SLI will kill the single card of the NP8690 and is one of the best ways of future proofing a gaming laptop to some extent.

I am also waiting for the next gen.

When I went from my old laptop to my current one, I knew I would be getting about a 50-60% gaming performance improvement but going from my current one to the NP8690 would be nowhere near this so is not worth it.

I may just end up waiting for Sandy Brige. The thought of having an on-die Intel GPU for 4+ hours of battery life, as well as improved 32nm architecture and 5870's or GTX 380M+ GPUs is too enticing. But that's not until... 2011 :(

1)NO! that's not true. no one can say that you will be able to upgrade. and the MXM3 b from clevo it's a proprietary format. it's not a standard. it's NOT future proof. just check previous models. you are always very very limited.
    4)YES

OK, you are correct in that you cannot say for certain that it will be upgradeable, but mxm 3.0 b is not proprietary to clevo, it is a standard from nvidia.
