I know they are shipping with LG brand screens and I know LG is famous for sparkle effect. It hurts my eyes so much that I am hesitant to order because of this. I need to place an order by tommorrow.

    Specifically the WUXGA's.

Oh and almost forgot if it's not to much trouble can someone post the hardware id off of theirs?

Thanks in advance. Sorry for multiple posts I have found nothing regarding this in searches.

edit: if you don't know what sparkle effect is then put a white background as your desktop and tell me if it looks like a wet rag has been wiped acros it or someone breathed hot nasty breath on the screen. It's hard to notice sparkle on darker backdrops.

I do not know what the sparkle effect is, so only u can say based of some pics. Please look at the m57ru owners lounge first post and there are some links for the pics. For the 9262, Crazy Habib posted a thread w/ some pics of the 9262.

it is very noticable. the whites look almost off-white on top of this horrible sparkling effect. makes the screen look dirty. i hate lg/phillips for this very reason

The LCDs using in the m57xx series are generally well regarded. I have the 1680x1050 personally . . . beautiful. I've never heard anyone say anything other than praise for the 1920x1200.

I would like to thank the guys over at powernotebooks.com for their speedy response and very friendly support. I called them literally minutes after this thread was made and they had already seen it. I'll be placing an order through them probably in the morning after a little bit more research. What a great bunch of people.

well they said they didn't know for sure but had no complaints so far one of them had the wsxga and had no complaints. i would like someone who has an actual np5792 in front of them to put up a white backdrop and tell me first if it's a true white not an off-white or yellow or even blueish tint and second if it has a hint of sparkle or if it's clean looking. i had a similar problem with a recent wsxga from

and while we are at it how is the contrast and color accuracy? lg is the worst possible brand lcd you could possibly get and i am still hesitant.

LG panels are the most used for 17"+ notebooks.

I have an LG 17" WUXGA screen in front of me. Had it for over 1.5 years... blacks are black, whites are white.

Since it is a WUXGA, its contrast (500:1) is slightly lower than that of a WSXGA+ or WXGA+ LCD... for power specifications and such.

Other than that, I have had no issues or dead pixels with the display. Glad I still chose it for the 1080p resolution and the increased workspace.

What are you basing that on?

edit:nm just read the First Post...sparkle? what's that? Just kd but sparkling has more to do with the type of panel used not so much the manufacturer. And Manufacturers have been known to use more than one type of panel in their lcd line. Current TN panels have pretty much eliminated sparkle. Now if you're talking MVA panels that's sparkle city.

I'm basing this on the 8 lg panels with the hardware id lpl0000 that had the worst sparkle effect i've ever seen. samsungs are beautiful and accurate. the lg had a white that looked yellowish in tint and had a haze covering the entire screen.

hmm that's weird...haven't seen anyone complain about sparkling on notebook lcds in some time. Most common complaint is grainy , dimness , backlight bleeding, dead pixels or bad viewing angles..sparkle rate below all those. But I believe you. I have seen some recent Latitudes, Precisions, Thinkpads, HPs and I'd say none exhibit sparkling and they're either mostly LG or Samsung predominantly. Don't know much about the Toshibas tho.
