i have a Clevo p150hm (Sager NP8150), my ati hd6990m suddenly showed nothing on the screen, so i bought another gpu the ( Clevo P150HM Video Card nVidia GTX 485m 2GB 6-77-W860L-D21 N12E-GTX) the seller says that it was pulled from a Clevo p150hm.

after i pluged it in it is the same as the old 6990m ''Black screen'', the laptop runs up and i an turn the wifi or bluetooth on/off (by the light indicators).

should i flash a new bios that can deal with nvidia cards(where to get the file?)?

any help urgent so i can return the card if i found that it is the problem

    thanks

if youve done the installation correctly and all thermal pads and thermal paste are in place, it should at least show up and give u any kind of display output. this way it rather looks like the card was DOA...

Do you happen to know what version BIOS you have? Are you able to test on an external display (do you get a picture, if so)?

the bios version "shouldnt" matter, since the 485M was supported right from the very release of the p150hm, so it shouldnt need a bios update...

but yeah, try and see if u get a display output on an external display, just to make sure its not your internal display being broken

Have a talk with prema, he may be able to shed some light if a specific bios is required, or differences between AMD and Nvidia.
