Hi, I am about to buy the sager np6165 laptop-- bare bones model. I am just gonna use the windows 7 license key from this laptop before i decommission it, so i dont need an operating system. i can do that right? i dont wanna spend 100 on a wnidodws 7 key if i already have one. i dont plan on using this laptop anymore.

i was planning on getting the i-5 processor and none of the upgrades. however, i dont know anything about laptops/computers so i don't wanna miss anything. any crucial upgrades any of you guys reccommend?

    Sager NP6165 / Clevo W150ER - XOTIC PC - Sager 15.6" Laptop

thanks a ton-- about to go put my order in so please help fast!!

    thanks

If the Windows 7 key is from an OEM copy, which came with or is tied to another notebook, you definitely have to buy another one.

Other than that, you can leave everything at default and buy, if you don't want to pay extra for a quad core.

I'd also suggest including Windows that way all the drivers will be installed properly and you can use it right out of the box. All you'll have to do is install Diablo and off you go. The GT 650M will run Diablo III, you probably wont be able to max out all settings but it will run it.

That depends, if you got your key through the university's MSDN or Dreamspark account, then those are one-time usage only (similar to MAK keys) and you would need a new one. If its a retail or KMS key, you should be fine.

Hmm yeah i got it through dreamspark, so i need a new OS? I was able to reformat my computer and reinstall windows OK and use the key without problem.

Sorry, i am pretty computer illiterate> < hope i dont sound too dumb

what if i could get my hands on another key through dreamspark? my sister is in school and could probably get a key for me since she uses a mac.

thanks again for the help guys

Yes, if you can get another key, you'd be all set. Most universities are pretty accommodating about Dreamspark keys to their CS/Engineering students. Contact the university's IT dept through Dreamspark support, explain your situation (ie. new computer), and they'll probably disable the old key and reissue you a new key.

Enjoy your new lappy and happy gaming.

Well yes you'll be able to format and reinstall with the same key an unlimited number of times, but only on that one machine. If you attempted to use it with another computer's OS install, you'd receive a message.

If your sister can get a key, you're in there.
