What standard m57Xru trimcolour do you prefer?

    Silver or Orange?

    please explain your choice below.

    __________________________

I prefer the silver version, because it's less "oh look he's a gamer" ish.
The silver attracts me more than the orange, and it looks more professional in my honest opinion.

    :)

    Silver

It looks more professional and much more sleeker. The orange looks cool if you want a Half-Life looking laptop (which would be neat for a LAN party).

I feel sorry for resellers here in the states. They have to go by what Sager provides them. It's a shame they cannot bypass Sager like Eurocom can and go straight to Clevo. There are many individuals who want to order the silver trim version but don't want to risk importing it.

So it's between Eurocom and The Rock, and as much as I like silver, it's not worth an extra $2K just for the color.

What a sexy beast it is...

I stated my reasons earlier but I'll reiterate them again. I picked orange. I also feel the silver trim with the brushed metal finish looks hella good too but I like the orange trim because it's different. It's eye catching yet understated. It feels attention getting in a classy way. I'm tired of looking at black, silver, and white electronics. :p

I chose the orange trim because it comes with a black lid. I personally feel the black lid seems more professional than the silver aluminum fingerprint magnet. Now, if I could get the silver trim with a black lid, that's a whole new question. :)

something looks funny about that gateway trim.. i can't put my finger on it but it just doesnt seem to pull it off quite the way the '72 does. it still has a high cool factor though. the lid design was sweet.

    go orange!

That's a typo, it said WXGA+ but then 1280x800. The WXGA+ is correct but not 1280x800. So its 1440x900. Someone on the gateway forums has one already and posted pics.

The cpu tho is a bit light for it but the price is nice 1300+ for a 8800GTS (not gtx but still not bad, double stream proc of the 8700).

They even have a Penryn soon with wuxga 17". http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1759,2245969,00.asp

The thing I like about the new Gateways is 2 HD bay slots and HDMI and eSATA wow. only 3 usb.

I completely agree with Indnny about the black lid. Sure the silver looks professional until you close is and you have this bright shiny lid staring you in the face. It's terrible, and makes the notebook look cheap for some reason.

I like the orange trim (and own it), it sets this notebook apart from others, but still keeps it classy. Not all that fancy alienware kind of stuff. The silver is a litte dull imo. For the lid I am glad mine is black.

Black + orange is the best just because it has that insane feel. It makes it different and sets it apart from every other laptop.

Isn't there any more difference between the M570RU and the M571RU than the colour?

i agree on the lid 'problem' i too would rather have had a black lid on the silver trim...

the silver lid makes it a bit standardish, still i choose silver for the sleekness.

I like the silver because imo it looks more professional. I'm an IT consultant and although I will have a gaming laptop, I don't need my clients to be aware of that. I think the orange trim just screams "I'm a toy!".

That said I'll be ordering from whoever I can get the best deal for the specs I want next month color be damned ;).

You can always just get the orange system with the black lid and have the trim painted any color you want. You could probably do it yourself very easily.

I'm generally indifferent to these sort of things but if I had to choose, I'd say orange. I had an NP5791 for review in that color and it was beautiful - different and understated at the same time. Orange is a rare color in the notebook world.

Removing the trim will void your warranty? Do you have to disassemble the entire notebook to get to it?

Most laptops have black and silver, and if you have a Dell you can get a different color.

Black + Orange is slick, classy, and will draw eyes.

I would look at that notebook in a airport, rather than a guy with a MacBook.

They sell that Clevo in my local store (re-branded as Novatech) and it has a excellent build, perfect keyboard, and outstanding screen.

If I didn't have a desktop I would have that notebook with orange.

    Nick

    P.S

Anyone got any pics? Real-life ones?

I'll agree with the critics that the silver is somewhat uninspired. But I find the orange just plain ugly, so given the choice I'd go with uninspired. Unfortunately Sager isn't giving us the choice. :(

I voted for silver but color choice is always going to be a matter of personal taste. If you want to stand out then I think orange is definitely the way to go but if you are going to take the notebook to a business meeting then the silver trim is a better selection.

No one has to know that underneath the somewhat mild exterior a beast lurks. :)

    Voted orange :)

Ive got that one my self, and must admit, it looks better in real life, compared to pictures. TBH I didn't really like the design that much when I ordered it, with the speakers at the side, and the "fancy" orange stripe. I must admit, it looks way better when you get your hands in it, also people seems to really like the looks and actually gets suprised that its a high-end lappy with such a discrete design :)

Think the silver trim is a little dull compared with the orange, which I feel, gives it just a bit of life ;) The silver is a little to much business-looks for my taste

if the silver is as white as it is on all the pictures, i'd go for silver, but if this is not the case, i'd want orange.
anyhow i'd love a black lid.

The orange looks more like a very subdued burnt orange and, together with the clean lines and the black of the rest of the system, makes it look very classy and professional. The white just looks too shockingly wanna-be avant-garde - it looks sort of like what you'd get from _Dell if you sent their XPS case designers back for a second year of design school.

I like the Orange because its different from many of the standard colours out there
especially considering how many silver laptops are about :)

the lid is still brushed metal but its black, and although its a fingerprint magnet, is a great place to put a skin or paint or whatever

well they can "look" at my laptop, but get too close and my trusty electric cattleprod would have to do the rest............

ok there "might" be one or two issues with having said cattleprod in an airport. :)

looks like a heavy gauge chain to my ankle hooked up to the Kensington Lock loop on the notebook :)

I prefer the orange just because I think it actually looks really nice that way, but I suppose it's more or less something for the younger group of customers like me.

And then again... orange is my favorite color haha. But I still think that the orange sort of makes it stand out a little since it's a very nice laptop but at the end time doesn't go as far to be as flashy as the m15x

well, as someone who has owned both - the orange one first, swapped it for an upgraded one and it came back silver - I prefer the silver.

Now don't get me wrong, I really liked the orange, but the silver is just that little bit more subtle and professional looking (and goes nicely with my backplate...)
