Hey guys, I'm very interested in the Sager NP9130 as a gaming/college laptop. I am going to be commuting and taking my notes on my laptop so I need one that is fairly portable and one that has a decent battery life. How would you guys rate the battery and portability of this laptop because it looks awesome for gaming and it's in my price range.

    Thanks in advance!

I know someone go has one. It's a gaming laptop so don't expect it to give you 4 ours of battery. If you do things to help your battery like Chang the brightness it still only does so much. It's not too portable but nr impossible to move around. You will probaly need a backpack or shoulder case

Hopefully other users can chime in but I've heard reports of 3.5-4 hours which is pretty reasonable for this kind of laptop actually.

Yes, I've heard that with Optimus, low brightness, backlighting off (not an issue for the P151EM), and possibly even wifi disabled when not in use (no youtube, cmon we're trying to save battery) - you could get 4 hours very likely.

EDIT: Also, using an SSD would help. Not very significantly, but it IS a fact that SSDs use less power than a mechanical HDD, and therefore give you a longer battery life.

Ok so it sounds like the battery life is decent enough for a gaming laptop and I do have a shoulder case that should fit it so that would work. But now I'm having doubts because after looking up more on Sager since I knew nothing of them before today it seems like there are quite a few people that feel that their laptops seem cheaply made and break easily, can anyone re-assure me that this is the great deal I thought it was?

I don't think I have found anything indicating what you are saying in your post, as all of the reviews and impression posts/videos I have read/seen, have pointed to the exact opposite in fact. They are of high build quality and professionally designed for a good price. I have done at least 8 months of research before coming to my decision to buy a sager/clevo laptop; thankfully I get a back-lit keyboard thanks to waiting, hehe :D.

They are built well. On mine the keyboard looks sorta cheap but it works well and definitely isn't

Clevo machines are far from cheap and flimsy. They are very robust with very good build quality. Never hear of a Clevo just falling apart for any reason. Not to mention ease of access to components and how easy they are to swap out. I'd like to see these accounts of people claiming the Sager laptop is cheap and what happened to make them say that, because that is a rare occurrence.

I love my NP9130, but in my opinion it's far from what I would call portable friendly. Carrying the computer around is definitely a chore especially if you have to do it on a daily basis.

The 9130 is almost 7 pounds. That is certainly not a light laptop. But if you want a gaming laptop, you are going to have to get a laptop with some weight to it.

The 9130 is only lightweight compared to other gaming laptops. It is 7 lbs and I consider that the borderline of portability, meaning that carrying it around is very possible but not pleasant to do.

My brother, who owns the 9130, tells me it can get up to 4 hours on battery while doing schoolwork. I'd estimate somewhere between 3-4 hours.
