    Hey Guys,

I have a Sager NP8651 laptop and I noticed that the (CPU/GPU) clock speed decreases significantly when it is in battery mode (unplugged from the power adapter). I understand that it was designed to do this so that the battery life is optimized. There are times when I to use the laptop for 10 to 15 minutes while on battery mode, so I don't really care about the battery life while running the laptop in this fashion. My question is, is it possible to increase the clock speed to its maximum (as if it were plugged in). FYI, I'm not talking about overclocking.

    Any suggestions?

    TIA,

    grecinos

You need to do something in the Clevo control centre to stop this... @HTWingNut, I believe you had mentioned it...

Running the system at max power can destroy the battery. Even with the machine set to performance mode in control center, my 4940MX locks to 1.9GHz.

Clevo laptops will auto throttle the CPU on battery to prevent damage. You can try to stop Clevo Control Center from starting up or uninstall it and it may give you some more performance. I know Clevo Control Center artifically limits clocks of the Intel GPU.

Also, as Ethrem noted, these limits are in place to prevent too high of a draw on battery which can damage the battery.

At the very least rapidly power cycling your battery will drastically shorten its life.

The CPU clocks can be adjusted via Windows Control Panel by means of "Minimum/Maximum Processor State", but what software for GPU clock adjustment on battery?

You can use Nvidia Inspector for GPU states, but, like other says, it's strongly unrecommended for battery life

The GPU is usually clamped as fully loaded it would over load the battery by itself. It's a limitation of current battery technology.

ANGRY MODE ON : The "power limitation " by batteries "technologies" is faked by notebook industrials because they are squezzing the cheapest and the SUCKIEST component inside the battery power controller.... , a 70Wh Li-ion battery ( like in clevo P150) is able to get more than 180W output without any degradation in performances over-time.....

Yes you can, but the battery needs to be the size of the pack in the P570WM to allow the cells enough space to cool down properly after a rapid discharge. That high heat WILL cause a reduction in life span.
