Question is above, does anyone know if this will work?

Im thinking about the iGPU for my Laptop screen, doing some browsing and stuff,
and the 7970 playing a game on an external Monitor.

if using your laptop monitor + external monitor i think that would work, you can extend desktop so each screen will be separate just like you do with the desktop. the thing that might not be supported is 2 external monitors .

i think the 7970 supports Eyefinity which let's you connect more than one external monitor i'm not sure of this though i'm also wondering the same thing.

Ok cool thanks, so you reckon i can play BF3 for instance, and use the laptop normally without any performance loss within BF3?

The computer will support one external monitor at a time unless you turn off the build in screen. If you want to use two external monitors and the built in then you have to get an adapter for each additional monitor beyond the one external.

I only have 1 external Monitor, so i'll be using that together with the Laptop screen. I think i have to rephrase my question again :D

Will doing some browsing, text editing, photoshop etc. running on the iGPU, on the laptop screen, affect my instace of BF3 running on my external monitor powerd by the 7970m?

and is this even possible? i think it is...no?

Yes you can run and external and the built in on the same time but you are not running it on seperate video cards. If you have the DGPU activated it will drive both monitors. You cant set both video cards to run at the same time and drive separate monitors. What you do on the external monitor is going to affect your perfromance on the one you're gaming on. How much will depend on what you're doing. Consider if you just had a web page up or running a second game, doing either will require power from the video card. How much will depend on what you're doing.
