Hey guys, I'm getting a 680m, so there's no way for me to test this, but I came across a review of something here: Virtu Universal MVP Review | Hardware Secrets

It apparently can make your computer simultaneously take advantage of iGPU and dGPU, which might eliminate enduro issues. It's only listed as being for the Z77 desktop chipset, but if someone tried it out on their P1x0EM who knows... Also, from what the review is showing, it actually gives a decent performance boost.

    Anyway, just an idea.

I saw the topic and already sent an e-mail to LucidLogic asking about our notebooks and if they can test our underutilization issues with their technology and IF our chipset can use this tech.
When (and if) they answer me, i put the answer here.

I tried their Virtu green on my P150EM with GTX675M because my GTX680M is still on RMA, and Virtu MVP is only for desktop, so could not try their HyperFormance feature.

    It does make some differences:

Application check no longer goes through NVIDIA GPU, means NVIDIA GPU no longer powers up to check the application you launched, instead, the check is carried out from the CPU with virtu green gpu emulator -> saves battery power

    3DMark11 score: No change

    FFXIV Benchmark tool:

    1) Before installing Virtu green: 3702, GPU on the score page is shown HD4000

    2) After installing Virtu green: 4442, 800+ scores in difference, load time is the same, GPU on the score page is shown GTX675M instead of HD4000.

GPU usage on iGPU when a 3D app is launched:

    1) Before installing, the maximum usage when a 3D app is launched = 15% and stays between 5~7% until the 3D app is closed.

    2) After installing, the maxumum usage when a 3D app is launched = 76% and stays between 9~15% until the 3D app is closed.

It was running in trial mode because Clevo MoBo isn't licensed in their support line (Not their partner), and when running in Trial mode there's this annoying picture floating around the screen in 3D applications. I think the HD7970M can probably benefit from using Virtu Green, but only if they take the license check away.

Do these statistics represent when you open a 3D app with just the Intel HD4000 or when you open a 3D app with both the Intel HD4000 and the Nvidia GPU?

That static is only presented on the HD4000, the GPU usage on the NVIDIA gpu is the same as before installing Virtu Green.

Before installing virtu green, the process was: An app is launched, NVIDIA GPU powers up, Check the app that's launched, if the app is listed as Use NVIDIA GPU then NVIDIA GPU runs, and send the processed images back to iGPU, then iGPU outputs, the check is carried out from the NVIDIA GPU, not the iGPU.

After installing virtu green, the process is: An app is launched, Lucid Multi GPU abstraction laver checks the app, and pass it to Lucid rendering, if the app is deemed as 3D app by the Lucid Multi GPU abstraction laver, Lucid rendering passes it to NVIDIA GPU, and NVIDIA GPU powers up and run the given tasks, and then passes the rendered images to Lucid GPU InterOp, then Lucid GPU InterOp passes the rendered image that came from NVIDIA GPU to iGPU, then iGPU outputs the images. The check is carried out by the Lucid Multi GPU abstraction laver on the CPU.

And somehow during this process, the Virtu Green handles it better than the Optimus from NVIDIA driver. HD7970M users might want to give it a try, but this is just for testing as there'll be a picture floatin around when 3D app running, can't really be brought into usage unless someone mod the virtu green or the company add the clevo Mobo into their support line.

That actually sounds like it could solve or at the very least lessen the enduro problem.

This will not run on my system with my 7970. It says wrong GPU configuration and tells me to rerun after checking my hardware/drivers.

Well I installed Vitru green and after installing I just get the message:

"Wrong GPU configuration. Please check your hardware/drivers.
    Disabling Virtu, and exiting.
(Remember to enable Virtu after the problem is fixed)"

I am running the 7970m/Intel drivers that Sager put up in their thread and CCC 12.7 beta.

Going into CCC and setting all of the .exe's in the Virtu folder to High performance doesn't change anything.

If anyone has any other suggestions, I'd be happy to give them a try.

Oh well, it was worth a shot anyway. I guess the current versions available out there just don't work with or couldn't recongnize the HD7970M as a discrete GPU. Let's see if Johnatas get any responses from Lucidlogix.

Sorry if I got folks' hopes up for nothing. Who knows, though... maybe Lucid will see a market in enduro (and even Optimus) customers and make some software that works similarly but fixes enduro issues and improves speed for both.
